That’s the thing with these cars. Take care of them and they’ll go go go. I’m updating a few small things…worn Alcantara, and a busted cup holder. I need to pin the coolant lines. It’s the first car I’ve ever had that might be a true dead man’s car for me.

I have 47,000 on my .1. It’s been an amazingly entertaining car.

Bought my .2 GT3 with 26k miles 2 years ago. Almost doubled it since then (46k miles currently). Appreciated and adored every second of it and can’t wait to take it out of hibernation and back to Nordschleife (t - 3 months and counting). Did the clutch at 35k, other than that regular oil and brake fluid changes and obviously discs, pads (rsl29), tires next to regular service. Drives and feels like new

Changed PCCB pads at 70k miles or so - still had 60% left. Discs weighed at dealersip - said 75% life left

Maintenance
Clutch -60K miles. switched out to LWFW and 4.0 clutch. Replaced water pump and RMS at that time. Also switched to stainless braided brake lines, and installed extra brake cooling ducts at 20k miles.
Just a question, discs were only weighted or also measured? I am curious how they are evaluating the %? And do you feel that the discs are losing on the quality?

Oh my gosh! Your cars are just babies!!!

I’ve got more than 148,000 miles on my 6GT3. Basically the same engine as the 997, so you guys have a long road ahead with your beautiful cars.

Enjoy!

Mileage and maintenance/mod check in!

Bought my 2010 GT3 in May 2022 with 39k miles. Currently sleeping off the NJ winter with 43k miles. Coolant lines were pinned by previous owner and water pump changed at the time (2021). All belts were changed by seller and included Sharkwerks center muffler delete. I replaced battery with antigravity lithium, brand new Michelin PS4S and DSC controller.

I’ve yet to perform my OCD first major preventative maintenance service that I always do on used cars. Will do spark plugs, coil packs, all fluids (oil already changed once under my ownership with a flawless blackstone analysis report), fuel filter, BMC air filter, cabin filter, RSS engine mounts, and mods like numeric shifter, Sharkwerks tune and RSS adjustable rear link and toe steer kits. Will eventually restore brakes to OEM spec by buying new or used carbon ceramic rotors (ugh). also pending install of the new morimoto 992 headlight retrofit kit.

DME was clean with PPI; will do a bore scope, compression and leak down tests when spark plugs are changed. Curious how to know whether shifter cables need to be changed; would hate to wait until it’s too late.

has anyone ever done fuel injection cleaning for their 997.2 GT3? I always perform that RC Fuel Injection ultrasonic cleaning service on my new-to-me sports cars, was wondering if Mezger is any different.

any other maintenance suggestions are welcome!

At 143K miles I performed the following services (1st time engine out):

1. 1st new clutch. Still good, but "while you are in there"...
2. Refurbished heads due to low compression on two cylinders. Bottom end untouched.
3. Welded remaining coolant lines
4. Guard LSD internals.
5. Replaced all vacuum lines
6. Coolant tank.

These engines are very robust. Just change oil and filter regularly along with plugs at suggested intervals. I've yet to have to do anything with injectors other than run Techron every once in a great while.

I still have the original shifter cables, but bought a 997 shifter that I am making new bearings for that I need to install. Again, these cars are very robust, so I would do more driving than worrying about maintenance at such a low mileage as yours. The worst issues are things like rubber and plastic degrading over time with heat. I've had some hoses and vacuum lines leaking over the years, but every car has that issue over time.

It is really amazing how you can drive these cars to a track, wring them out, then drive home and repeat without exotic amounts of work to keep them running.

Gorgeous car, congrats! I’m scheduling mine now for coolant lines, I might have a slow leak. Also, the clutch is slipping. I’m thinking the light weight fly wheel upgrade while the engine is out. I also have a small radiator leak, so it’s probably time to replace.

Impressive that your clutch lasted that long.

you know it's funny you say that about the clutch on that car - AutoKennel sent out 2 email noticed when it first became available. The first one mentioned the tech noticed the clutch was slipping and it could use a new clutch soon (or something along those lines), then the page was edited, and another notification email was sent with that info removed. beautiful salesmanship!
