Default 997.1 spark plugs - NGK or Denso?

Hi guys,

I am changing out all my spark plugs and ignition coils on my 2007.

Since the Bosch Y5DDC are discontinued, others options are NGK and Denso plugs.

I’ve read a couple posts of members recommending the NGK DCPR8EKC as a viable replacement for the Bosch. However, a couple European online parts retailers don’t list this plug.

When I searched Pelican, ECS Tuning and FCPEuro, they all offer the Denso XU22EPR-U as a 997.1 GT3 spark plug option.

Does anyone have any input regarding the Denso spark plugs?

Thanks

I would stay away from the Denso and get the NGKs
There're two extensive threads on this, with vendors listed.

I made a thread about it and JB911 was very helpful. Check those out. To summarize, two different NGK flavors are recommended. Or you can find the porsche OEM plugs online in places (and pay more for it).

Frankly if u want OEM, i would buy a few sets before they are completely gone. Depending on mileage, you'll be changing plugs every 4-6 years so doesn't hurt to buy a few sets now.

when I looked a few months ago, they were already all gone. Do you know of a supplier still selling the Y5DDC?

Why pay a pathetic fortune on the Bosch when you can get the NGKs for less than $10 each?

I still have a extra set for my next change .... was just curious who still had them ... figures they would jack the prices up sky high. low supply, high demand .... where have I seen that before.
