Considering selling the Forgeline wheels off of my GT2, and putting OEM wheels back on.

Forgelines were on the car when bought it, and have OEMs.

Thoughts?

And yes, I did replace the yellowing stone guards in front of the rear wheel.

Forgelines are great wheels, but that design is too angled and modern for the 997. OEM, BBS or a diff Forgeline design are my vote.

I like the factory wheels.They tend to define the car and model.

Tend to agree with both of you, especially on a 997 GT2. Champion RG5’s, BBS and Forgelines work on a 997 Turbo. Prefer the OEM wheel on the GT2.

I like the Forgelines, they're similar to my BBS Fi, standard wheels are ridiculously heavy, stick with the Forgelines and enjoy the drive.

As this car was spec’d when new, the OEM wheels are a bit lighter silver than the car.

Big fan of stock or BBS. I wouldn't say the Forgelines are bad but agree with the point that a more "period correct" wheel compliments the car.

This Forgeline look like BBS F1's, which are some of the best looking wheels out. Before you change them back to stock, I'd find some Porsche center caps and put them on the Forgelines. Stock looking cars get boring to view.

I just had a look at the Forgeline website, these are high quality forged wheels, $2K a pop they will weigh likely 4kg less per wheel rear (stock wheels are 14kg) and 1.5kg per wheel front Stock fronts are 10.5kg) that's 11kg unsprung weight saving it will drive much better.

I'd go back to stock. As a car ages, I tend to prefer the stock look more and more. Way I look at it is when a car is new they typically stay stock due to the first owner likely flipping in and out of cars more often. Then, the second, third, fourth owners over that 2-10 year old period are probably going to modify it a bit to suit their tastes. But once a car is 10+ years old, there's something to be said for the stock look.

My one exception is BBS, specifically the monoblock. They're expensive at $9k, but such a great looking design. Can save a bit of money and go with the CH-R if you prefer (obviously not as lightweight). Luckily you already have your OEM wheels, but for anyone that doesn't, you're looking at around $2k per wheel for 997 GT wheels. Not sure why they're so expensive when Boxster Spyder wheels are sub $6k for a set, 996 GT3 wheels are $1k each etc.
