Default Is the 997.2RS truly the last manual RS?

Hi folks,

I don't know how you feel about the new GT4RS. It looks stunning! The numbers are amazing too!

What really struck me was AP saying this is the last NA RS. Porsche will move to electric after that. What also struck me was AP saying "NO" to a manual tranny on the GT4RS. I realized that my 997.2RS is now the last manual tranny RS Porsche will or has ever made!

Wow! It took a little bit of time to sink in. I guess we all who have these manual tranny GT3/GT3RS cars ought to be thankful. I truly feel blessed that I have had an opportunity to enjoy the very last Mezger built 3-pedal beauties. I am so glad I got mine when it was affordable (tongue in cheek).

Congratulations to all of you as well!

Enjoy in good health.

Best,
Raghu

Now is the time to add these cars if you can because I could not agree more that as Porsche moves towards a hybrid platform and electrification the soul is gone.
just drive it
break
fix
I used to buy 2 of everything.... then I had my knee blown and fixed... I realized you know, **** breaks, things age, there is no way around it. buy it drive it hard and when you keel over, you will be smiling... those who buy and worship.... well.. all the best to them.... over - rev is over rated. it's fine. when it blows you will know. just put another engine in it. if you are on IG you will see I have pic of me pegging my CGT 4.0, nsx, 73 all at or over red line... nothing blown yet...

All of this is great (I suppose), but I am not interested in buying up more just to store waiting for 2 or 3 more rounds of escalating prices. Nothing against those who wish to do that. No judgement here from me. We live in a special country that affords us to do EXACTLY what each of us wish to do with our cars.

And I am also glad I got mine 3+ yrs ago, and even though it had very low miles and a rare spec,.. I am not stashing it away for the next guy (even tho that next guy is my son!!). I am putting miles on it, price escalations be dammed. I don't care. I will be dead before any of that makes a hills beans worth of difference to me.

Sure I feel especially lucky to own one,... but I feel MUCH more fortunate to be able to put miles & smiles on, without guilt and without worry or concern on how much I can pad my financial spreadsheet many years from now. My kids will inherent plenty,... but low miles will NOT be one of them.

Ok,.. I'm off my soap box for now. Enjoy & be good!!

@bweSteve well said and couldn't agree more. My son is in line for my RS and he can get it with 100k on there! To each their own.

Also to OP, really crazy to think that we have the last of the last true Mezger manuals. Pretty awesome!

yessir,... agreed totally to OP. The thing here is that we can ALL feel thankful, lucky, appreciative,... that we had the foresight to buy one,... regardless of how or why we do what we do with them.

They are truly incredible machines, even when they're sitting still in a glass encased showroom, or screaming WOT down the road

so yea, I do appreciate this Rennlist community,... because without you guys posting on how great these cars are,... I might not have searched so long & hard to find my own. THANK YOU!!

The GT4 RS will be an impressive performing car, there is no doubt but it will never be a 911.

Porsche has stated the GT4 RS will NOT be coming in a manual gearbox.

Hahaha! 100% agree.
Mooty,
What I want to know is how the *u*k did you take that photo while driving like that! That is like having a fourth pedal!
I bought my RS with 1900 miles on it two years ago. Just crossed 4000 miles last week! I have enjoyed every mile!
Enjoy in good health
