Default GT2 on a Plane! (better than snakes)

Minus one 2009 GT2 in North America. Plus one for Europe.

Enjoy the boost! Didn’t want to keep for Carweek? Darn, maybe it will be smaller this year than others….

What is it like to register a NA/US car to drive in EU? Can you just drive it away from the airport or do you have to do some sort of inspection first?

That is the way to do it for sure! May you enjoy many miles (kilometers) of beautiful European driving! There is (of course) no better car to do it in!

Curious myself as the wait for our Taycan CT is just killing us with 3 separate production delays already. Forget the boat, get that %@$@ thing on the plane!!

Most of the threads I was finding from people either on Rennlist that used air freight to ship a car of their own, or people that elected for it though Ferrari, was around $10k.

This article suggests $15-20k. But I'd be curious to know a more exact price as well.

Thanks for encouraging comments and support! The GT2 clears customs tomorrow.

The red tail-lights are a stock option chosen by the original owner. Not sure I'd choose them, but glad someone else thinks they're OK.

Feel free to PM me for resources and rules on shipping to the EU and CH. I went through 25 quotes for boat and air shipping, and sifted through all of the regulations for temp and permanent import.
  • Average Boat Cost - Shared Container (no RoRo) $2300 - $3000 from a reputable company. I didn't really trust the delays currently with international shipping traffic, and the 8 week quote which was optimistic. The whole process is messy, but cheap.
  • Cost for Air Transport - $14K fixed price, with insurance, with customs paperwork filing, and the vehicle arrives and clears customs in 4 days. LAX to LUX then truck to GVA. No direct flights to GVA with this type of cargo/plane. I'm using Swiss based company that is amazing and handled all US subs getting it on the plane. It's strapped on the air-cargo pallet as you see there, and it stays there onto the covered truck from LUX to GVA. No messy on/offloading like boats.
  • Bay Area to LAX Transport - A big shout-out to Cappy's Transport. Super quick, safe, and inexpensive for covered truck transport.
  • Import - I've lived in CH for more than two years, so I had to do a permanent import. If you're just driving around for the summer, or moving with a car, you can do a temporary import and not pay any import or VAT for a duration of up to two years (then you pay or ship it back to the US). In both cases you need local insurance coverage (can be by a US company). I drive from airport to an appointment for inspection and CH licensing. Simple. Since it's a Canadian car with KM and all of the other little non-DOT items, I won't have any issues. Anything heavily modified will not pass.
I'll post some pics when I get it out on the road.
