I also have a shop you may be interested in talking with depending on where you are in Denver - head tech is very knowledgeable and an honest guy. Shoot me a message if interested and I'll get you the details and background.
blue chip; had chance look it over. Ive heard really good things about him. Who do you like? I’ve also read berg, 3r racing and Eurosport automotive are good options too.

Jason at Big Mission Automotive.

They're in Palmer Lake but hopefully that's a reasonable drive for you - I recently had a great experience with Jason. Sent you a PM with more details.

just do it yourself. Dropping engine is not as bad as it seems. you can do it by yourself and with QuickJack on top

Bxstr ..... I'd also recommend doing a fresh expansion tank with the revised .04 cap. I ended up doing this a year later since I was continually thinking about doing it and when I had the engine out I had to stop spending money on the service at some point.

Recently had my coolant lines done, including hoses, heat exchanger, pump, thermostat, SW elbows etc. and also new clutch and LWFW 'while we were there!', but needed to draw the line somewhere so didn't get to the expansion tank - interested in what the revised .04 cap is please?

I also did not do expansion tank and cap at the same time for a similar reason to what you said, I was already spending considerably more than I planned to and I had to draw the line somewhere. So I actually did that this year. Labor wasn't quite as bad as I expected.

Regarding the tank, some people will have those leak. Have not heard of many cases of it on the 997 cars, mostly on the 996 cars, but I'm guessing that's due to the 996's being older. So I did it preventatively. They can develop small hairline cracks.

The .04 cap is the latest cap. People have mentioned that the earlier caps can sometimes leak, which would end in .02 or .03. I think mine ended in .03. It was a cheap enough part at $30 to just replace it and prevent any issues.
