Also, here's a cross reference site, but I consider it dangerous even though there are 19mm reach and 12mm thread diameter specs:

NGK makes a 2 electrode plug with the right dimensions, but the heat range is 8(!!!) instead of 5
It's on their site listed as the GT3 plug. That heat range would worry me:

If the car is stock, I wouldn’t have an issue if I was in a bind to run the hotter plug. Pre-ign is the issue, but most here run 93 or better anyway. Cali 91 would be iffy.
That is why there are plug options out there depending on usage.

You can try ordering from Autozone but I doubt they'll get them. I'm saying, I did an extensive search yesterday all afternoon. Even if ordering from Porsche dealers I would call to make sure they have them in their hands, almost wasted my time with Auto Atlanta who's website said they had them when in fact they didn't. Maybe Suncoast and Sunset do have them,I'd call before ordering-they will be about $27 each
The heat range 8 would probably worry me, if it was 6 maybe not so much-

Hmm, they should poll from the same National Suppliers…. I’ve not had any issue with them for some fairly exotic Spanish bikes and the couple special plugs for the various 911’s. Though, I usually don’t go with the OE plug. I reference like you do and I’m a bit of an NGK guy growing up with Honda Motorsport stuff.

I think you have it backwards. It's an inverse relationship. If the NGK Plug has a heat rating of 8 and the Y5DDC has a heat range of 5, that would make the NGK a colder plug. No danger in running a colder plug other than misfiring and fouled plugs. A Hotter plug well..... Pre detonation, melting electrodes, etc....

edit:i hate being wrong. Thanks NGK for being “odd.” Thought I was a wiz having used them all these years…yikes

The chart shows NGK 8 being colder than Bosch 5. (By one range)

I ordered a set of the NGK R - NGK indicates GT3 compatible. I got my Borg Warner/ Beru coils and 0w-40 yesterday. Almost tune up time.

Just spoke to a guy at rennpart in NC. He does not have the plugs, site listed them at $10.95 each. He said the main supplier he's always got them from shows none.
Extinct. Go to your local P dealer and see if they have them in stock. I can't think of any other suppliers to order from.
It would be nice to hold the NGK R next to the Bosch to compare. Too bad the heat range is not the same-
Also, the Denso is less than $3 in some sites from what I saw. I assume the Denso is made in Japan, but probably not, as they have factories all over the world.
As a reminder, the Bosch rep said he was removing the 2 Bosch plugs on their site listed for 997 GT3, he said they are not compatible-

Also, I tried in vain to find out what is the heat range of the Cup NGK plug 991 602 201 8A, the $115 one listed on FVD's site. I believe Tom at TPC racing put them on his car. If someone could reach him and ask what he thinks, the more info the better.
And looking at the spark plug heat index chart, the NGK R seems to be indeed one step colder than the Y5DDC, which I would consider safe
I do use NGK plugs on my motorcycles, and keep in mind Ferraris and Alfas use NGK plugs from factory-

I found a place that sells the Bosch Y5DDC equivalent made by Brisk-
https://www.magnumtuning.com/en/deta...es-bosch/y5ddc
The problem is, they don't list which model it is, and when you go to the Brisk site, there are many 12mm thread, 19mm reach plug choices.
Using their part finder does not yield the correct results, like most sites the Mezger is left out and the result shows 14mm thread plugs which are for the other 911 engines
Brisk list of plugs, many 12mm/19mm reach options but still can't tell which ones are a direct Y5DDC replacement. Maybe a few of them are, not sure. I wrote them asking which one(s) and let's see what happens-here's a list:
https://www.briskusa.com/Spark_Plug_Assortment
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/br10zs_spark_plug
And:
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/br12bfxc_spark_plug
And:
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/br08zs_spark_plug
These are the flat non protruding/no ground electrode like the NGK Cup/motorsports listed on FVD's site:
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/br08gs_spark_plug
Another option:
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/bor10lgs_spark_plug
And:
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/bor12lgs_spark_plug
Finally found the Brisk cross reference chart, and they list this plug :
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/br12yc_spark_plug
Here's their cross reference chart:
https://www.briskusa.com/sites/defau...-Reference.pdf
So after frying my head investigating this, according to the Brisk chart on heat range, Bosch 5 is equivalent to Brisk 14, and this model kind of fits the description. I will mark this as probably a good choice:
https://www.briskusa.com/spark_plug/bor14lgs_spark_plug
If someone would like to call the number for Magnumtuning at the top of this post and ask which one is their replacement for Y5DDC, it would be helpful. I'm burnt on this
But, it continues...here's a replacement for the Y5DDC, 360 degree electrode, but no Brisk model listed
