Default 997.2 GT3 RS Side makers

Are 997.2 GT3 RS side markers different from the standard 977.2 side markers?

They are checkered flag design and unique to the 997.2RS. Congratulations on your RS! I would keep it as is sans decals.

Thank you for the congrats feeling very blessed with the new RS.

I was hoping to try out these FVD LED side markers. Guessing they won't work for my car then. https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD6319970...972-clear.html

Congrats!

What's strange is FVD lists them as compatible, but according to the Porsche diagram, they're different parts. For the US lights (orange), part numbers are:

Left: 997 631 037 02
Right: 997 631 038 02

Left RS 2010-2011: 997 631 037 90
Right RS 2010-2011: 997 631 038 90

It is strange! I asked FVD they said they will fit. I don't believe so but I ordered a set for science! Will report back with results.

They may fit, but they will look weird. The RS side markers flare out to keep the line of the fender flare. If you put regular ones in there, they won't align with the front fender flare.

Thanks ranger. I suspect you are correct. I'll examine when I get the units. Given this reasoning then they should work for the GT3? just not the RS.

There has even been a discussion around the fact that the RS side-marker re-redesign has cost Porsch 100s of thousands of dollars simply because it was for a such limited production run.

Just to match the lines of the fender extensions, which simply look cheap.

I've not found LED side markers that fit the front flares (as others have said, the ones FVD carries are not for cars with front flares). Good luck!

Updating the thread on these nice LED side markers.

1. They aren't plug and play with the 997.2 GT3 RS wiring
2. They clip into the car but don't fit the fender extensions and thus don't look that great as many members pointed out.
Hoping FVD will take a return since they don't even plug in. If not off to Rennlist market place. These really do look nice. Wish they fit!

This is some day one type stuff, buy the OEM from the dealer $40-$60 depending on relationship.
