Sacrilege, I know. I bought this RS as a fully loaded queen when I had another two RS's to play with at the time. Last year I was offered a fair amount on both of those RS's and chose to sell, now down to one...
2010RS 1900miles, going in for all fluids belts, plugs, and also new Cup2's but now I am hesitant.
Do you think there is any benefit in keeping the original cup tires for future resale/collectors looking ect. As it is right now I have another set of loose OG Cup's from another RS that was removed in 2014 after 7500 miles. They do offer a different shoulder and sidewall look than the Cup2's so figured there might be something worth keeping?
I have been offered a decent amount for this example but choosing to keep it as a queen for now.
I’m 99% sure that you mean take them off, replace with Cup 2’s drive and then if a collector down the road wanted the original Cup’s you’d have them.
If this was a car you were keeping as a sub 5k mile garage queen going forward, maybe original cup’s would be desirable to someone, but I don’t think you’re going to have any issues if you don’t have the original tires when sale time comes. I’ve heard that as a selling point “original tires” but I can’t imagine even 9/10 collectors care about that.
Obviously for street driving replace right now to avoid an accident.
If you have the space to store, it can't hurt. I don't think it will help much but it does show how original the car is. If I had the car and the room, I'd toss them in the storage.
sure are, hope you were not thinking I was implying there are road worthy.

Correct. There if they are needed/wanted.

20' Container full of parts, a couple pallet rack shelves as well as a climate controlled back office full of parts...I think I have a problem...
Since you are collecting, save all the original hard parts such as belts, plugs, and tires. It will help you in a future sale.
And see if you can bottle the original air coming out of the tires. Save that also.

I'm willing to bet if one was to sell a 1,900 mile RS and asked the buyer if he wanted the original showroom tires, they would take them. Even if for nostalgic purposes, bragging rights, whatever the case may be, they would probably accept the tires.
