Default Transmission inserts

I'm considering the Function First transmission inserts for my car and I'm favoring the orange softer version. A friend of mine says he's content with the yellow ones even after installing the lightweight flywheel which I thought also added noise-

I've read some threads on it and many users thought the yellow ones were too noisy. But since those threads are older and tend to die out I thought I'd start a new one and get some opinions. One thought that comes to mind is perhaps the stiffer yellow ones would last longer, if they deteriorate over time.
I'm happy with the ball bearing shifter kit they make, got that a while back-

Thnx

I searched some more and the Powerflex ones seem to have been improved after 2017 and offer lifetime warranty. They're UK based but seem to have a US distributor:
http://Powerflex Gearbox Front Mount... Kit Pfr57-531

But then their yellow version seem harder than the FF ones, though users on the UK thread claim the new design makes less vibration noise-question is, are the US ones available as the new improved design?

i’ve tried the function first inserts twice now on two different cars and they didn’t last a week in either. And I’m pretty tolerant of NVH. However it was just too buzzy for my taste. Kind of ruined the experience for me on the street. I love raw and stiff and loud but I just found the buzzing annoying and cheap feeling. The first time I used the hard ones and the second Time I used the softer versions but the results were basically the same based on my perception.

So maybe the new Powerflex ones are quieter?

With a LWF and no dampening from the dual mass it's got some NVH for sure. In fact any 3.8/4.0RS lighter flywheel is on the verge of annoyingly so. The 3.6 being heavier and on a gen1 doesn't seem as bad at idle. But go with the least firm ones or stock imho.

After reading the 911uk posts I ordered the street Powerflex ones since they were redesigned in 2017-
I needed other things and got them from FCP Euro

I fitted the orange one (street?) to my previous 996 GT3 which had a single mass flywheel and cup cables and can honestly say I didn’t notice any difference in performance or NVH. To me the main benefit of these items is to preserve the integrity of the factory rubber mount which is prone to failure over time.

One more option for you to consider. A local race shop to me makes a complete replacement to the factory rubber in 2 hardnesses. Check it out here;

Yeah I checked those out too, thanks. I also searched rennlist and there was a thread from around 2013 with the Torque Solutions mounts, a flurry of activity with everyone buying them. It would be interesting to see their long term assessment but a lot of them might have sold their cars:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ion-parts.html

And it looks like Torque Solutions also makes inserts, but I went with the lifetime warranty Powerflex ones.

Hopefully I'll get them installed this week-
Thnx
*BTW, why did Eddie get banned

I’m in the same boat with you ‘07 GT3 with 48k miles FF shifter kit and I was thinking of getting the Powerflex inserts, what is your experience so far?

thank you for your quick response!
I ended up ordering mine earlier today, hopefully I’ll have it installed by the end of the month!
that said I also don’t have access to a lift right now so hopefully I’ll be able to do it on jackstands!

Did you get the yellow ones? I think I recall seeing videos of some guys installing them on jack stands, must be a pain in the back
But, when I put in new spark plugs with the car on ramps I'll see if it's feasible-

Let me know how yours goes
