not to hijack thread but are you happy with the headers? Been wanting to do headers since car came with software.

I didn’t notice much difference in chatter from before to after installation of the dampener. It’s still fairly noticeable when clutch pedal isn’t engaged.

Yeah they are amazing! Install was easy except I had trouble getting the donut gasket on the test pipe to seat with the side muffler. After a bit of adjusting it was all good, it could have been avoided if I checked it before buttoning up the car. I got a tune along with it as well, the catless EvoMS headers paired up with the RSS X-pipe is an absolute symphony.

ok- that's pretty interesting to hear and a good proof point that it's effective.

Yes do the Dundon dampener, it is cheap insurance and Jamie and Charles are great to work with. I don't notice any change in sound of the LWFW and it feels like it revs just as quickly to me but my car is fully built so perhaps different dynamics on a stock GT3. Mez engines have some funky harmonics so anything you can do to reduce them is going to make driving the car more comfortable (less NVH) and can only help engine life (and maybe prevent something catastrophic, particularly in the 997.2 GTs which have both intake and exhaust side actuator bolts vs. just exhaust side on 997.1).

Thanks berg and others. I'll be adding it to the (long) list!

I put one of these dampeners on and mine actually broke after about a year. Dundon sent me a new one overnight no questions ask. Great service and I will continue to buy there products. It does make a difference on the 997.2 GT3RS.

I have posted this in the other thread to get more visibility, but has anyone thought of simply spot welding each bolt on the variocam actuator to the actuator cover thus eliminating any chance of any of the bolts coming loose? Seems like a simple solution and could probably be done with the engine in the car. Yes, the variocam adjuster would never be able to be disassembled after that but that's never needed anyway.

I’m wondering if this is actually needed on a 2007 GT3 with a LWFW. I keep seeing the 3.8 997.2 and above are more prone to the bolts backing out than the 3.6 997.1. I would hate to lose the fast reving feel and spend unnecessary money on these.

Cam actuator bolts backing out is an issue with the 3.8’s, not the 3.6. You don’t need a dampener as long as your car also has the RS pulley.

Great to know. Yes, I have the RS pulley. Thank you.

I believe @FLT6SPD had bolts back out on a prior 3.6 RS car (which of course has LWFW). Just something to keep in mind.

Correct at 12k miles, Porsche replaced the engine.
