That scene in "The Meaning Of Life" when Eric Idle's leg gets "bit off" by a tiger and he asks the doctor if it will just "grow back"

So I got the Tpms installed with tires and my understanding is now that I put the wheels on the car and drive they should just "come back"-
They are supposedly pre programed but I just turned the ignition on and they say - -
Pretty sure I had read to go for a drive and they'll come to life(?)

I have to add that I only replaced the rear tires and sensors-I'll drive a few miles and see if they communicate or if I need to try to do a reset/relearn procedure

So I drove about a block and it asked me about new wheels 😂

I went into TPMS and selected summer and it came to life 👍

Just to update this thread, from what I can tell it looks like the RDE011 is now discontinued.

Correct they are DC'd. Only options now are the OE RDE048's or you can now get the Huf sensors in this link below that can be programmed for an RDE048. Only the newer UVS 7050 can be programmed to the same protocol as a RDE048. RDE011's were an option that was the same but cheaper version of the RDE048 but now no longer.

That’s because a 997.1 is an RDE001. Above he was showing the listing for a RDE011 which is also a RDE048 and that is the sensor for a 997.2

Glad you both reminded me that .1 and .2 are different. Having a 997.1, I'll go with the RDE001 mentioned above. Thanks!

and a 997.1 only options are RDE001 or OE dealer part. As of now the UVS7050 CANNOT be programmed with the RDE001 protocol to work. Maybe sometime in the future.

I just got these same sensors. Do they need any programming or do they just need to be assembled and installed?

No programming. Install, inflate to door placard and reset in PCM.

Are the TPMS necessary? Can't one just check the old fashioned way? I know this is an antiquated thought.
