After some trials and tribulations, I finally got a manual switch installed to deploy and retract the rear spoiler. We basically used a 2-way rocker switch with a relay wired directly to the wing using switched power. We are working on a more elegant solution that will use the built-in limit switches in the wing. That requires more research into the wiring system but I think we figured it out. Overall, a Carrera tail conversion requires a modified Carrera intake, used wing, and manual switch. I think total cost was approximately $2000. Might be more depending on cost of wing and labor if you have to pay someone to do the modifications on the intake, cost of the intake you use, etc. Not bad to effectively have a 997 GT3 Touring.
While I was at it, I swapped in some new exhaust tips. I sourced a couple Flowmaster Rolled Edge Angle Cut Polished Exhaust Tips. Specs are 3" Inlet, 4" Outlet (101.6mm) and 5.25" Length. I have a Soul Performance center muffler bypass and the outlets are 2.75" so I had a friend flare them out to fit the 3" inlets on the tips. He also burnished the surface of the tips with a steel wire wheel to give them a brushed-steel finish rather than polished. If you like the look, the upside is that these are really inexpensive tips at about $100/pair and I think they look great. The down is that they come embossed with the Flowmaster logo on the top edge of each tip so I had them sanded off, plus they require some modification to fit. Now I'm going to enjoy the beast while the weather is still good!
I dig the ducktail look too. I had one on all of my aircooled 911s. It would have been an easier path to go that route but I wanted something a little more different and unique. Looking forward to seeing it on your ride.

I have a custom ducktail, but I have not been motivated to get it painted. I was not a 'wing guy" but I like the wing on my car.
A friend of mine removed the wing on his RS and had end plates fabbed by a local engineer and shop in Seattle called Atom Design & Development. His were made of CF but I suspect Adam would make them out of whatever material you want. I asked Adam if he would make more and he said yes. Email him at adam@atomdd.com. I don't know how much he charges. I don't have a pic of the plates but here is a money shot of my friend's RS sans wing.

I just moved to Bend OR and went on my first drive to McKenzie Pass (Highway 242 out of Sisters). What an amazing road! Too bad it rained during my drive so I couldn't get on it but it was still a blast. I am going to try and hit it again before the snow hits.
