No doubt illegal. But so is driving w/o cats in most States.

Our motor vehicle inspection guys would never notice. They just drool on the car and affix a new sticker.

Edit - bonehead beat me to it LOL

Please don't confuse doing the common sense right thing (social distancing, washing your hands, staying home if you are sick etc...) with being a "good citizen" and cowering in the basement, surrounded by cans of tuna and toilet paper.

P.s. Whoops, did I cross the line here?
I am interested in seeing what the police will do if they see some nice cars driving around with the lock down in place? In reality can you think of a better time to be on the roads? I’m in Washington state and we are a day and a half away and the roads are pretty empty. Thursday should be a ghost highway. I will give it a try and if I get stopped I will explain my logic.

Yes, I did it to mine and several of my clients' cars. We've always replaced the glass with the Porsche OEM lexan one (NLA).

My hunch is you'll be fine. In WA too. Definitely saw reduced volume on 405 Lynnwood > Bellevue on Thur vs Wednesday. Police are out but mostly looking for the crazies who don't think 75mph in their work truck is enough... I'm like, "hey this isn't a 5mph crawl, enjoy it while you can"

looks like I’ll be waiting till next week. Rain came along just in time to ruin the fun. The roads are substantially more free from what I’ve seen

Simple, with the right tools and experience. It's no different than changing any rear windshield; however, you need to be careful and not scratch the lexan, which is very easy to do.

How much weight is saved by changing the rear window from glass to lexan?
