Got the pipes from Soul and slipped them in👍
I used a toothpick and spread a light coat of the same high temp grease used on center lock nuts, just to make sure I could slide them in far enough since I had the main issue with the other pipes. What a difference 1 mm makes 😅. Fitted them in with a piece of wood tapping the center bypass in.
I can’t crank it tonight cause a cold front with rain just got here and it’s pretty late
Will crank tomorrow
Well, it’s loud 😂😂😂
From idle to about 2K it’s a low frequency rumble, levels off as the pitch changes under acceleration
I have the carnewal remote and there’s a difference with valves closed, no doubt
The goal was to make it loud like my ‘74 Z1 900, Vance & Hines 4 in one open headers which I’m quite used to-but this is very loud 😅
Repels: cats dogs coyotes foxes raccoons idiots scooters mopeds
I guess only deaf people are immune
I hope it’s not too loud and I get used to it-the center delete was pretty good, but saving weight on the sides was also a major consideration
I did get dizzy with the fumes from the coating on the new side deletes- Soul says on the instruction paper it will smell for a while-wonder how many heat cycles it will take to stop smelling 🤔
So the side muffler deletes don’t have a mounting bracket to the chassis?
Looks like your center bypass does so that’s ok. But I’m guessing if someone who has a GMG or JCR center bypass it may be an issue since those don’t have mounting brackets like yours or a Sharkwerks center bypass
I'll make a video later, but it's iPhone audio which is not so bad but not the same as being there. My impressions are that it's quite loud inside the car and I might put my OEM center on for now. I don't track so I'm not worried about cracking issues like some have experienced. My FVD does have the mounting section so the system is mounted well. Between my two loud bikes-the 900 with straight pipes and my insane triple two stroke 750 with Denco stingers I might be hurting my ears/hearing. On the bikes I wear a helmet but in the car I don't
Reading through the 991 threads I see quite a few people getting the valved sides and center delete combination. Soul sells their system like that if you want, so does AWE, JCR has these options but they also have a center with small mufflers on the small section of the pipe which might be a good idea. I think Fabspeed had or has some designs like that too.
So I loved the center delete, wished it was a bit louder, but had the weight of OEM sides and as many have said, center delete with oem sides is still louder and sound better than valved sides with oem center muffler. It's subjective I guess, but I can go read some more about it and will hear for myself.
I'm really thinking the in center delete with small mufflers might be the compromise. Less popular manufacturers(at least in the US)like Cargraphics. But their mini muffler is on the fat pipe, not the upper one: https://www.cargraphicts.com/en/prod...acement-pipes/
I believe Mr Adair has the Fabspeed "mini-max" Center system, which I believe has (2) small mini mufflers on each top pipe (valves closed). He can chime in, but I believe he also currently has OEM sides,... and also wants to get rid of the side weight.
...so yes, It would be interesting to hear if having just those little mini mufflers on that smaller top pipe for a center bypass, would give just that extra sound restriction (w/ valves closed) that many of us need,... while at the same time allowing a louder straight-thru side delete (above&beyond what we get with a simple center bypass).
My biggest problem is that I reeeeeeally do not want to give up the full-on-QUIET mode with my OEM sides and valves-closed config. I definitely still need a quiet mode when the wife & I are not on the twisty B roads, but rather cruising a highway from spot A to spot B (typically on the way to whatever hotel we're staying at on long weekend touring type drives). I cannot give up that quiet mode for those situations. Although she drives the car as hard as I do, and loves the open valve sound,... she needs to have her cake & eat it too. Happy wife, happy life. I am just thankful that she enjoys our cars the way I do. 30 years of it now, and no looking back.
Thanks very much JB for continuing your posts on this subject. I find your writing very helpful.

I had fixed side deletes and mini-mufflers on my '07 GT3 and it was very loud and produced lots of drone. Sounded more like a 1986 Buick LaSabre with a rusted out muffler than a GT3.
Yeah the Mini Max, as far as I know has mufflers that affect both the small and large diameter pipes on each side-it seems different from the JCR silenced center which is only available in titanium, and I don't want to spend more on this exhaust marathon (lol)
So examining many possibilities and comparing my FVD to other center deletes, the FVD is closest to sharkwerks. The Soul and other centers are more of a megaphone design, and could be that they are louder with oem sides. One thing I could think of is going back to oem sides with the Soul center since I'm examining all possibilities. As mentioned, there seem to be a lot more threads on the 991 group, and a lot of guys are doing valved sides and center deletes. But I'm not kidding about the hearing issue, I've been riding my bikes a lot and my right ear has been bugging me-I might have to use an ear plug to give it a rest for a while and reassess this. So after driving the car last night it does seem too loud. If I go oem center it seems it will be quieter than oem sides with center delete, but with heat and weight savings from valved side deletes. Also, as far as I recall, Cup center only uses the bottom/large pipe with blocked upper opening(?)
Can you post a pic of your 750 2 stroke? I'm assuming it's a Kawasaki. I used to have one and am looking at getting another one some time in the near future. .
