Drive to bbi
give betim my amex
cry a little
smile when back

no full instructions ...But.. assume you have access to a lift and a trans jack? I think it would be near impossible to do this on the ground. It needs quite an angle to get back.

other than the drive shaft, shift linkage, wires and coolant hoses, and uncoupling the fork and removing the slave cylinder..... seen it done does not too hard hardest part getting fork aligned on install.... and i believe reinstall may require cooling system to be under vacuum to get the cooler purged right (this unsure about)

I’m in south florida so bbi is a wee bit out of the way lol
i have a lift and can buy a trans jack.
I have dropped many, many air cooled motors so i’m assuming it’s not too different seperating the engine/trans from my 964 as far as slave and fork goes. Just not used to leaving motor in the car when i do all of this. Purging the coolant is not difficult either.
I guess when i get under there i will see what needs to be moved out of the way and then just start unbolting things.
I was just hoping to find some sort of video or write up with a step by step list but i’m not aftaid to get at it without.
What i am afraid of is the while i’m in there syndrome haha

FLT6SPD had a Google drive link up for a while, which contained the instructions on how to remove and replace the transmission from Porsche with all of the torque values. Reach out to him and see if he can send it to you.

There are short and long videos on YouTube to at least show all or most of the steps. Just make a list as you watch. Then you can make sure not to skip something and do it in the correct order.

One of the short videos:

I find it easier to remove the motor and tranny, then split them once out, allows one to do cleanup etc...

If you leave the engine in, you have to lower it so it's tilted towards front of the car. You need to loosen the two engine carrier bolts but not remove the nuts so the engine/gearbox can be tilted. You obviously need to support the "front" of the engine somehow before taking gearbox out. Factory solution is a steel beam that attaches to the subframe bolt holes.

I left the engine in for my trans job. Not difficult.

For complete and accurate instructions, go the the PIWIS TSI web page at Porsche.com. Give them $14 US for one hour access. Download all the factory manuals you desire including the PDF for trans removal. It is difficult to navigate the website however.

It's nice to have the torque specs but it's not necessary to have the manuals.

"What i am afraid of is the while i’m in there syndrome" Oh yes!
I have to limit the time and $ to do things. Good Luck
