Did you buy your car back from Doug?

osu s2k 12-11-2019 05:21 PM

To be fully transparent it was consigned, Had a rear main seal leak that never bothered me but bothered the prospective buyer, I get that, engine has been dropped and I’m gonna have the leak fixed, so the car will be essentially perfect new tires I’ll service new TPMS sensors new lip....I already wired funds for my 997.1 RS so this one Hasto get out of the garage willing to work with people

That’s the way to do it. Too small a community these days. I think overall the money you put in to get it perfect will all come back to you and should make for a quick sale. I did all that work recently to my 2010 RS in preparation for sale, wanted to make it perfect, and find myself just driving the car and enjoying it now!

Driving the car would be a less expensive fix. :icon107:
More fun too!

osu s2k 12-11-2019 07:22 PM

^You are correct, car never dripped when I drove it on a more regular basis, but is soon as it sat for several months it would become apparent

I figure it’s easier to sell a well-maintained car and it is a small community and I have a higher visibility job here locally, I always figure do the right thing and it’ll come back with positive karma in the future.
As soon as the seal gets fixed, probably will list here with minimal marketing and a fair price

Was your 997.1 GT3 the one with white wheels? If so that was an incredibly nice car and well documented. Never did see it in person at Doug's but was considering it in my search over the summer. As far as the rear main seal leak, I think they all do that if they sit for more than a week or so and it is pretty normal, so I am surprised that was a concern to the buyer.

Best of luck with the sale when you get it back. Who is doing the work if you don't mind me asking, Steinels?

sorry I hijacked this thread, yes the white one, brought it back to Columbus area, I have an independent who is a gold certified Porsche tech from mag doing a little side work
For me the white has been great I like it, but have to move on as I stepped up to an RS

I can understand someone wanting a perfect car especially if you’re going to pay the upper level of the pricing. I tend to overpay but I try to get the best examples I can get

^White GT3 looks amazing.

osu S2k,
Do you have a Scaglietti under that cover or 599?
I bought one of the last 6spd Scagliettis 10+ years ago. People think that it is a Buick.

osu s2k 12-12-2019 12:08 AM

I had 599 unfortunately sold for a California 30 for the family !?! Kids and wife enjoy, me, not so much. They do nice interiors.

612 manual utterly cool.
