Default Mclaren M6B non-Porsche content

Because I just came from Road America I had to post this. Jim Pace in the M6B. I know many of you veterans know this stuff like the back of your hands but I’m becoming fascinated with historic racing.

I can’t stop watching this..

Only 16 seconds slower than this years pole time set in a Mazda 2019 DPi car. It’s a 52 year old car! WTH?

Been to the Hawk and many of spring and fall revivals. I venture to say a nicely prepped 917 would do better. The .10k or .30 version.

Very cool either way. Many delights show up year to year and walking around with a nice bottle of Unibroue about the streets of Elkhart is something to behold. I really mean it. There isn’t this side of the Atlantic where that happens.

I will get to the Historics next year. Agreed, Elkhart is pretty charming. The track is on the list of National Treasures and the facility is now about as nice as I have seen (except a modern F1 facility). Not sure if you have seen the new business called the Throttlestop? Some Chicago gents built a world class garage, detail shop and museum in the outskirts of town. Looks like they cater to all makes. Nice car collection but even better motorcycle collection. I saw an unridden Honda NS750 oval piston super bike complete with matching tool kit there..

I think that video illustrates perfectly why nearly all car guys want to be racing drivers. Big boy stuff...the best sights and sounds possible.
