Hahah, I always get bummed out that my 997.1 GT2 owning brothers aren't posting more regularly, so I'll just make a post.

Weight weenies rejoice!

New parts for the GT2 came in!

1. Antigravity battery
2. Lithium charger by CTEK
3. Custom titanium wheel lugs by Yperion Titanium
4. Carbon mirror caps
5. Cobb AP

Of course I took time to document the weight savings, because it would be uncivilized not to. I am currently undecided when I’ll install the Cobb, but it was a good day!

Weight reduction achieved so far:
Carbon seats (-54 pounds)
Fire extinguisher and bracket (-6 pounds)
Antigravity battery (-26 pounds)
Yperion Ti lugs (-2 pounds)

That’s about 88 pounds so far, and it’s by far the most expensive 88 pounds of weight loss I’ve ever lost on a car!

I completely agree! I find myself looking more in the 997TT forum than here!

Sharkwerks exhaust and tune only here, I like those lugs!

Agreed, more posts re GT2's.
Yours looks amazing!

I am not tracking mine anymore since the Mclaren purchase, so the GT2 sits, and or is driven to car meets....

Link to recent pictures with both cars.

Lugs were custom made by Yperion Titanium for me in Russia. They took a while to be manufactured and arrive, but the communication was overall good and I got to actually see them being created for me, which is pretty cool! As I like to say, they came 'From Russia With Love', LOL.

sick lugs!

I have to say that I lurk on the GT2/3 forum specifically for GT2 posts (kindred to TT cars)... but I too have noticed that those guys just don't post that often. The TT forum has definitely perked up.

Steve
Great post, is that battery the new higher capacity one ? I was waiting for that to come out.

I think the reason we don't get many 997GT2 posts is the fact that they only made 1261 units, 9 less than the Carerra GT, these are very rare cars

Can I ask you which "carbon seats" you installed are these the regular GT2 reclining carbon items ?

Would be interesting to know what your total weight is measured with 100% full tank ?

When mine was new it weighed in at 1465kg (with full tank), it now weighs 1474.5kg

From the 1465kg I removed about 17kg with new BBS Fi wheels and a few Kg with lightweight flywheel and maybe some weight with the Tractive DDA shockers but I added the following

(weights are mostly guesswork)
PPF +1kg
Techart DRLs +1.5kg
alloy Y pipe and chunky clamps +2.5kg
bigger throttle body +0.5kg
bigger intercoolers and hoses 3.5kg
Ti stock exhaust replaced by CG SS one +5kg
front wheel arch extensions +1kg
front spacers +0.5kg
wider front tyres +1kg
seat side bolster protectors +0.5kg
Rear seat belts +3kg
higher capacity battery
+2kg
total +22kg

I thought for the future I could get it down to 1460kg with the following mods.
Possible savings
Battery Li -12kg
rear mat delete -1kg
Werks 1 carbon Y Pipe -2kg
235 tyres -1kg
Front tool and tyre glue delete -1.5kg
total -17.5kg

I believe you're correct is that these cars are quite rare and many are 'sleeping' in collections, which is a real shame as they are so much fun to drive. Total 911 quotes 1242 made, so I'm curious where you found 1261?

I bought a set of leather carbon buckets with folding backs, and had the center cushions reupholstered in alcantara. I wish I could weigh mine but the scale I used to use has been closed. I will weigh it when I can, but since my car still has steel brakes from the work of a previous owner I don't expect a great number at this point. Once I get PCCBs back on the car and clear up the 'big' aftermarket stereo, I'd be a lot more interested in the weight. Love to see what you have done with yours...thank you for sharing the details here.

Steve
My number is accurate it is in writing direct from a reliable source at the Factory in Stuttgart. There will actually be less, I know of at least one which was written off and scrapped in the UK
