Here's the report: https://d.pr/f/giiUyJ
And here's a link to the car in question.

996 GT3's will log an over-rev once it hits (rev limiter) redline.
Both 997.1 & 997.2 GT3's will only log an over-rev once it hits 9,000 rpm.
{< ... I got this from Doug's video starting at the 13:30 mark >}
Ignitions above redline for that 997 GT3 seen in range 2, & 3 were all at the same moment (at 1039 hrs), and therefore occurred 123 hrs ago (engine currently at 1162 hrs). Once the engine has gone beyond 50 hrs above the last over-rev occurrence, they become a non-issue right? (Porsche requires 200 hrs for CPO).
{Aside from all the other car-specific tire-to-wall contact details for that car} from a engine only perspective, it appears it was a well maintained track car, and as Bxstr said, those over-revs don't seem to be of a concern. .... or do they?
lets test myself.....
Qty 1039 range 2 & 3 ignitions / 3 cylinders = ~ 346 revolutions spent at 9K. 9,000 revolutions per minute equates to 150 revolutions per second. With 346 revolutions, it means that this car spent a total of 2.3 seconds at that 9K rev mark. But how many bounces off the 9K max does that mean it endured?
In Doug's video, his test of a 996, where he bounced off the rev limiter between that one shift, he logged 43 ignitions on the DME report. One bounce = 43. But that was in a 996 (which logs at 8,400 redline). This car is a 997 which requires a bounce at 9K. So if on average it logs approx 50 ignitions on a single shift bounce,... this cars 346 revolutions means there were approx 7 moments where the car was mistakenly brought up to 9K.
Hmmmm,... for me, that means there is the possibility that internal valve-train components might have been stressed over the course of those 7 mis-shifts where it hit 9K. Ok sure the engine has now gone 123 hrs since the last time it hit 9K (& that is 73 hrs beyond the 50 hr threshold),... so the engine has not self-destructed,... yet. But could it be described as a "tired" engine?
Pls chime in if I have any of that wrong.
.... I will also say that there is a LOT more data on those DME reports that I feel could be scrutinized to give insight & perspective on the cars health & well being. I've researched a few things,... but quickly get bogged down in the minutia.

No matter what happens I still keep second-guessing the old too good to be true adage. Luckily I didn't come too close to buying this GT3.
