Default Throttle response

Two questions.

1. Is there a way to completely get rid of any lag between gas pedal push and response? I ride old motorcycles because they are carbureted and have absolutely no lag, almost as if my wrist is connected to motor. Felt that in a 964 but feel a little lag with 997.2 Rs

2. How to get rid of change in throttle dynamic when exhaust valves open, want smoother, more linear rev up. Not sure if I’m explaining properly but it’s the feeling of head moving forward before the engine really kicks in, want to get rid of that.

If sport mode doesn’t give you enough throttle response a Sharkwerks tune will do the trick. Go to the website and read up on what the tune does. The enhanced throttle response from the changing of the fuel curve etc. makes the the throttle response crisper by about 15% as well as the revs. I could definitely feel it straight away.

I have used these on various non Porsche and they work quite well and are adjustable and simple to fit.

Cheap enough to give it a try.

Spoke with dealer, voids Cpo at their/dealer discretion.

I eliminated this problem to my satisfaction by replacing exhaust valve control with an on/off switch for a separate 12V signal. Basically, I leave the valves closed when around home and switch the signal off when racing. The sport mode button no longer controls the exhaust valves, but still provides a more aggressive throttle response from the computer.

I always drive with revs >3K, where torque is high. This eliminates the need to use valves to provide back pressure to increase torque <3K. Also eliminates valve on/off transitions.

YMMV

PS Keeping above 3K rpm also keeps you away from the Mezger destructive harmonics.

You might like this, it just remaps throttle sensitivity:

Here's a thread about it:

You can offload tune when getting dealer service.

Looks like same kind of device as I suggested. They basically alter the throttle curve so you give it 10% and get 40%, its is quite effective and certainly worth a try for the price.

The Sharkwerks or Cobb OTS tunes completely cure the throttle lag issue and of course the factory tune can be reflashed by the cars owner in a handful of minutes before a dealer visit. In addition they optimize for fuel in your area and up your redline to 8500 which is very very safe for these engines. Nice little bump in tandem with a less restrictive exhaust and the 3.8 Cup Intake. JBO

Does this look like the proper order of execution to find the sweet spot?

1. Tune
2. Exhaust valve control switch
3. 3.8 cup intake
4. Less restrictive exhaust

Anything else?

Cobbs tune can adjust pedal to throttle ratio and stock it’s pretty aggressive for the sport button map.
If you don’t like the valves get rid of them. Cup car headers and side muffler bypass.
