I'm with Erik. The CGT and the 4.0 are the best modern street cars Porsches offered. Good call. JBO PS I gotta stop posting like I know what I'm talking about or you guys are gonna hate me. I better tone it down.

Well JBO & ErikErik - You guys know a LOT more than I do,.. so yes I consider you guys the experts.

.... so I'll go ahead & bring back up my question from above..... was really hoping some of you,... Mooty too,... would have some history on how PTS was ordered back in these 2009 / 2010 timeframes....

Did you guys have access to the PTS Palette's? ... or did you use some PCNA or PAG listing / website,... or maybe a PDF that gave you choices?

I'm no expert. My last PTS car was spec'ed in 2005. It was totally different back then. The only PTS 996 GT2 I know about is Seinfeld former car. JBO

Too bad Eduardo is no longer on the forum? He was a PTS expert going back many years. He once posted an official Porsche PTS chart. I remember being amazed at the sheer quantity of colors. I can’t find it

The idea in my mind when Special Wishes was really Special and not Exclusive. And PTS meant something. Today it's absolutely meaningless to me. I didn't need a chart. If for example I wanted White. I know Porsche has about 15 of them throughout the years. Grand Prix White was much more pure than Biarritz, less yellow, but not as obscure as Glacier. Carrara hadn't appeared. I don't want a chart or palette. That makes PTS a commodity and just another thread "what's the difference between Miami Blue and Voodoo Blue?". Two blues that have no history. Two blues that give me a laugh while people decipher their differences. The fact that these things actually happen is astonishing to me. PTS was supposed to be something that enabled a truly Porsche committed customer to simply get the color they wanted from the get go. I don't need to go into the "special" person room and be told what makes this and that different. BTW I love your Red RS. That car is seriously sexy. For me I probably would have gone with Carmine but Guards is super cool. I'd be very very proud to own your car but I don't need a list of Reds to get that right. I'm a Porsche historian dating back to before I could drive. That's what PTS means to me. Post 997 it means nothing. It's just every other thread on the 991 boards. It makes me ill. When I saw yours for sale I seriously considered buying it. JBO

I could swear there a thread years ago on this topic; may have been 4.0's. I'm not sure. But fairly confident one exists.

Hey Steve,

This is close to what you wanted. This is a link to a sticky thread from Eduardo (the PTS expert I spoke of) and it's got a lot of PTS information. It's 2 parts make sure to read the whole thread. Some PTS info going back to 2012. It's good..

This is really sad. Waaaaaaaay back in 2005 PTS meant Porsche would paint your car any color desired as long as it was physically possible. The prices were different and that makes sense. However what's the point of paint to sample, the sample a color brought to Porsche by its customer, if PTS is a list. Porsche is building a whole lot of ill will. I have a feeling it's going to take awhile to unwind this PTS hysteria as a means to flood the market with cars that are falling in value so rapidly Porsche may beat Tesla to the bottom of the JD Power "my OEM sucks" rankings.

Thanks for finding the links Mr A. I read through the early ones and it was quite enjoyable. Especially the Gulf Blue, verses Golf Blue, given it happened at a dealership & SM that I know well enough.

Interesting antics during the 2015 timeframe. All of that really supports JBO's discontent for the erratic 991 PTS woes. I'm guessing there wasn't as much mayhem during the 2009 997.2 GT3 ordering days.

Also, there are over 3,9xx posts in that thread, so needless to say, after a couple hundred, I skimmed through the remaining.

That RS 4.0 is nuts, not sure I've ever seen one in that color! Awesome!

Was at the Connecticut Valley Region 60th Concours. Apparently from the Steve Harris collection. Has cup tires on it, no tread at all which was odd to me but maybe it came with them from factory.
