Default I'm helping a friend find a 997 GT3

Local friend of mine who is 100% new to the Porsche world (currently has a 355 and TR6) has narrowed down his first Porsche to a 997 GT3.

I have not been following this market very well and he asked me about this car, he thinks it's priced about $15k to high. Thoughts / comments?

I think it could be a 90k car since it's from the dealer.

I have seen that one too. It is one of the cleaner ones on the market at least from how it looks. But that is an upper $80s low $90s car. Depending on over revs, paint work and condition including if it has a clear bra or not.

Great choice for a first Porsche. Back in Nov, I tried to by a nice, 20k mile example from a Denver dealer for mid 90’s. They wouldn’t take it.

I agree with everyone else re the referenced car.

I'm also in the market for a 997 GT3 and checked out the above car during a recent trip to socal. It's in nice condition but the clear bra has turned yellow on the sides and the front bumper bra has been removed, the rear bumper is also missing a small amount of paint from rubbing against the license plate. The examples I've seen in the $80s usually have a fair bit more miles on them.

This one is still on my radar but it presented a bit nicer in pics than in person.

^^ Your'e in the bay area? Come take a look at mine. I'm trying to make a run for an RS and something has to give.

Everything is Fresh, rotors, fluids, new Odyssey Pc925, rennline battery mount. Porsche silk indoor cover. Original paint, no overrevs and I don't track it. 35k odo.

With 30K miles,... Assuming DME checks out, carfax, and maybe even maintenance records included, IMO,... after a bit of back & forth with dealer,... your friend would be happy to land at $88K.

yellowing film just means it's been on there a while, which is probably a good thing,... just replace it when you own it.

Thanks for starting this thread. I appreciate you looking out for me.

Great rasponses here and I appreciate the help.
Not saying it is necessarily overpriced, just that it seemed a bit high compared to a $77,000 GT3 I am considering. That's all.
I know crap about Porsche pricing so it would be pretty presumptuous of me to say anything in regards to over priced, under priced, etc.
Hell, I am still trying to figure out the model numbers at this point.

...and Erik, please, help a brother out, I own a 355 and a FI TR8. A TR6 has an inline 6 tractor motor in it for goodness sake.

My search continues and I am smarter as I do it because of you guys. Thank you.

Hey!, my first post.
