I have been asking the same question for my 997.1 RS as well. The 997.2 RS runs 245/325, but the front wheel is wider (9' vs 8.5"), and the offsets are slightly different (Front .1 is 53mm, .2 is 57mm; Rear .1 is 51mm, .2 is 48mm). I am hoping to run either Cup2 or MPS4 tires. This has been hard to find anyone who has done this with oem-spec alignment and ride height. Things like changes to the uprights or LCAs between the two models could make these offset figures worthless for comparison sake. I am trying to avoid buying tires that rub and destroy themselves...or worse yet, installing too large a tire and chewing up the bodywork.

Thanks for your reply Jim.
I'm just surprised no one has experience or insight here.

245 works great with the oem 305 rear. Really improves turn in. Some 245 like Pirelli trofeo R are actually very wide for a 245 which helps more. Haven’t tried bigger rear - doesn’t really need it imho.no abs issues either

Just curious why people want to run 325 rear?

Im only considering it because I’m being too cheap to buy inner barrels for my E88’s. Just changing the outer barrel will give me a 12.5” wheel and a 305 is too small for that size.

changing narrow body e88’s to wide body

^Can you elaborate on:

Handling
Rubbing

Also do you know your alignment settings and what wheels are these tires on?

Thanks in advance!

I run MRS4s in the sizes you asked about. I removed the 5mm spacer from the rears before doing so. Standard 997.2RS alignment specs (even though on my 997.1RS, I chose the.2RS specs because of my other updating to 997.2RS suspension items). The 'rake' angle is different between the two (and different still on the 997 4.0RS). No problems whatsoever with rubbing. Front end feels more planted when first entering the turn, and I don't drive hard enough on the street to feel any difference in the rears).

They fit fine, no rubbing with PS4S. I don't know the alignment settings off the top of my head, but on that car they are not at all aggressive since I never track it. Cup2 tires are usually wider for a given size, so may require more camber. The car has the BBS 5-lug wheels from Dundon.

Jim and Bsquare, thank you very much for this information. Now I only need to know if the 325's will push too much.

Maybe going to a 245/315 will work also. Just trying to get the smallest tire size on the rear with a 12.5" wide wheel.

Without information on how you want to use the car or what your goals are for the change it's all just speculation.

My goal is to try to keep it as close to stock in terms of balance but with a 12.5" rear wheel.

I have to mount a rear tire larger than a 305 as you can't put a 305 on a 12.5" wheel. Hopefully I can install a 315 on the 12.5 and a 245 in front and have it behave as close to stock as possible. I don't really want to go to to a 325 out back but I know the fitment tire to wheel, is better.

So a 245 and a 315 would work for me if the tire isn't stretched out back.

Quick Reply: 245/35 325/30 on 997.1 GT3 RS ?
