Default Time for tires

Looking at either getting a set of:

235's and 305's Trofeo R's.

or

245's and 315 MPSC2's

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

The Trofeo’s are going to wear a lot quicker and are more expensive than the Michelin’s. What’s your intended purpose? Street or track?

intended purpose is street but will attempt to get the car out to an event his year. I'm on Super Sports, which look in decent shape but they have timed out. Seeing as the car isn't driven much, I think a Cup tire would be a better bet as the car doesn't see many miles.

I have priced the Trofeo's at $500 more than the sport cups and given hat they will be on the car for some time, the sting of the price will vanish over time. Prices obtained at Tire Rack and heat cycling included.

Just trying to figure out what tire will give better performance. The Overpriced Trofeo's or the Oversized MPSC2's?

Your car looks amazing.

Another main objective was to rid the tire of some of that tire stretch. Love the 325 but don't want to induce anymore push into the car. Stock sizing and corner balanced, it's handling pretty perfect for me now, that's why I was thinking of just doing the 315 out back.

Thoughts and how does your car handle at the track as it looks like that's where it's sitting now.

Cup2 is far superior in almost every aspect I would say, except perhaps a single glory lap/session. You add the cost differential and it's no contest, especially as you are getting a bigger footprint with Cup2. I would also definitely not heat cycle an r-compound tire.

For what it's worth at very high track use the Cup2s last me about 10-15 HCs (3 days?), but most people get 20-25 (5 days)?

I see. I've been reading too much conflicting information. UTQG's that are under 100 are the best candidate for HC's. Cups are at 180 and don't necessarily need them. The devil is in the details.

If your intention is primarily street, then an R rated tire isn't a very good choice. The Cup 2 would be far better. Were the Cup 2s the original equipment?

I'm going with the MPSC2's in a 245 and a 315. Thanks for all that chimed in.

Will keep everyone posted on how it goes.

I'd like to see the 315 when you get it, to see how it looks on a 12"

Any experience on this forum with the new PilotSport 4S on the 997.1 GT3?

I'm looking for street tire + occasional HPDE use, perhaps as a backup "rain" tire. Likely will go with stock sizing (235/35/19 and 305/30/19).

If you are not too serious about HPDE and are mainly looking for a street tire, there is no reason not to get 4S. It's probably the best all around tire out there today. Would highly recommend

I have Michelin Pilot 4S tires on these cars:

2011 Cayenne Turbo
2015 Audi Q7
2008 Audi RS4

They are amazing tires and I'd be shoddy the GT3 with them except for the fact that I'd time them out before I wore them out. Looking to get into a tire that I can wear out before they time out.

You can't go wrong with them though.
