Porsche 997.1 gt3 buyer's advice
Hi,
I'm looking into 997.1 gt3 with 50000miles on the clock.
Had 2owners, no racetrack miles as far as I known.
Any advice on this, things to look out for?
Thx

Get a DME readout and a maintenance history and then if all is good buy it. Don't worry about the miles.
If you feel comfortable, post up the ad or the car so the members can have a gander.

Obviously look for paint imperfections that would be clue to accident damage. Some repairs are done better than others and it's worth knowing if there has been some work done, it was done correctly. Pretty knowledgeable group on this forum, if you post link or more information on the car chances are good people here might know the car.

Just got the maintenance history no oil change since june 2015, 13000miles since with it. Also he told me he didn't register the car, which means he didn't drive it a lot. He was 1,5 year owner.

just do it....but be prepared for it to ruin you for any other cars moving forward
Porsche makes such great cars - my 1st (1980 911SC) was sold w/178,000 miles on the clock - it leaked NO oil)
7 P-cars later (and many years), & on 2nd 997.1 GT3, have had no problems. 61K on the clock on current GT3
If you track, then consider having coolant lines welded/pinned (don't let that be a prerequisite to purchase - neither of mine were done....no issues)
Check the DME and look for any over-revs in the 4-6 range (avoid these).

13k on the same oil, I'd pass unless it's a good price. compression test a must

Maybe.... It sounds alarming for sure... but if you can have a PPI done, and a sample of that high mile oil sent out during inspection you'll have a pretty good idea of what's going on. If the oil is completely broken down and contaminated then you might not want it even if the compression test came back positive. If the oil analysis says there is still some life in it, there may be no trouble at all. Many high quality synthetics are rated for long drain intervals. All that said, I don't like that it shows a propensity for neglect. at 50k miles it should be closer to the bottom end of the price point, so maybe you can get an attractive deal.

you said 13k miles,... but also used a comma for "he was a 1,5 year owner". So maybe if this is a North Amer car, but you are considering buying it overseas,... and if that 13k is actually KM then it is only about 8k miles on the oil.
again, as others have said, we can speculate on it's condition and what to be aware & check for,... but until the car is identified, it's all guess work.

We are all speculating now and wasting our time. Merlin, post up the ad and we can provide some useful replies. Until then, this thread is worthless.

All concerns can be addressed with a very thorough inspection by a reputable dealer. The 13K and time since last oil change might be indicative of the level of maintenance or lack there of provided to the car. you didn't comment on what records you have and the level of attention provided by prior owners. If the records reflect a huge gap in care, rely on insights during the thorough inspection and value the car appropriately.

Thanks you for the suggestion. This car shows lack of attention: oil, tires, spark plugs.
I'm looking at a nice 997.2 s with 40000miles and perfect service history, more my thing
