CEL - Codes: P0131 & P2251
Hi,
At my last track day, the dash displayed a check engine light, last night a buddy of mine came over and we pulled the codes from the DME.
This is what we got:
P0131 - O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 1 Sensor 1
P2251 - O2 sensor current control circuit/open bank 1 sensor 1
I have got the detailed freeze frame report, don't know if that helps? I did some light reading on O2 sensor failures, and it seems common with my exhaust setup and tracked cars?
It is a 7.1 GT3 running the OE headers and rear muffler with the side silencers bypassed straight to the centre muffler.
Any comments appreciated, cheers.

Seems like a failed pre cat sensor. You can try swapping left to right and see if error follows. I believe this is referring to the pre cat not post cat o2 sensors.
Bosch oem sensors are fine.

I had read something about the Cup headers being better for this setup due to the cell count in the cats?

They flow better for sure. If you do a lot of track time it’s good to save your stock emissions. Not sure on rules in aus but here in California we have to have car pollution inspected every 2 years. And stock headers are expensive. And do wear.

I had the same problem. The codes I got were P0420 and P0430. I replaced the O2 sensors, both pre and post cat, but the codes came back. I reset the codes by just disconnecting the battery. Is it necessary to use a reader to reset the codes, or is disconnecting the battery sufficient?

420 and 430 are cat efficiency errors. Do you have stock cats?
ive always used a code reader not sure unplugging battery will work

Yes, stock cats. Only 27,000 on the car. Dealer said it could be due to the ECU reflash/upgrade. I'm going to get a code reader and try resetting with that instead. I'll report back on whether that works or not. Fingers crossed

I will keep my eyes out for a set of Cup Headers, in the interim, we cleared the codes and I drove the car to the office today, as soon as it reached operating temp, the CEL appeared, will get the Durametrics back on it when we get a chance and make sure its throwing the same codes before further diagnosing.
We don't have routine emissions checks here, but you can get unlucky and receive that "random" EPA notice to go and have your car inspected for noise & 5 gas analysis.... usually it is because someone reported you... tracks are starting to use Db meters too.

Sorry if it’s a daft question, which is bank 1&2 respectively? Ie Left/Right bank
