Default Cheap tip to prolong front lip life

For those of you lamenting the constant scraping of your front lip, grab a roll of this door edge guard trim. It costs nothing, takes 4 min to install, is invisible on the car, and probably doubles the life of the front lip by protecting the leading edge. When it gets chewed up, I pull it off and replace it with a fresh strip of material.

I run a cup car lip and now replace it every 2-3 years instead of every year. I also run the car hard on some pretty bumpy NC mountain roads so scraping is not avoidable (i.e. this isn't from pulling into parking lots...)

Do it. Thank me later.

I tried this and if you scrape something hard enough it will rip the door edge trim right off the lip. It helps but just prolonging the inevitable.

agreed. I used to use the door trim, but it constantly kept hanging off the lip after scraping on the ground.

now I chalk up the scrape marks as patina and replace the lip when needed. In fact I just cracked my lip two days ago

The last thing I care about is scratches or scrapes on my Cup lip. As long as the thing is still attached to my bumper, I'm content.

Yes, prolonging the inevitable, which in my experience increases the life of the lip considerably. Your mileage may vary!

Its also annoying to otherwise clean up the car but still have a gnarly looking front lip when everything else is looking nice. Couple minutes of time and almost zero cost is worth it to me.
