Default 9" vs 9.5" front wheels on track?

It seems most ppl go with 9x18 and 12x18 wheels for track use.

18" for more tire options and a little cheaper I understand.

Why though do ppl not opt for 9.5" fronts to have more tire width options? (especially considering most 245's can still be fitted to a 9.5" rim)

Matty you are going down a dangerous path man!

I have 10 inch wide 18 wheels that accommodate 265/275/285 tires, and a 9.5 inch wide 19 wheels that can also accommodate 265/275 while also allowing 245/255 to be used. I would say that 9.5 is an ideal upgrade as it fits normal street tire sizing or track tires that you would want to be wider. Only issue I can think of is the fitment under stock fenders. I have the cup fenders and flares so it is not an issue, but I am sure stock fenders can accommodate the size with the right wheel offsets and/or fender modification.

Also, as a side note, the only 18 inch tire worth considering these days is NT01 for R-comp and BFG R1S for semi-slicks (best price/performance by far, but not streetable). In 19 sizing you have NT01 (stock size so meh), Cup2, RE71R (stock size) and Trofeo R. Hoosiers are available in all sizes

9.5 fronts with 265s don't fit without modifications (ride height, alignment and having a lot of adjustability) and correct offsets. you will most likely need to roll Stock fenders as well. I also run cup flares with 9.5 and 265s. If you don't have things dialed in correctly even 265 will rub the fender liner with cup flares. 275 u need to move radiator mounting bracket forward a little.
