Does it absolutely have to be done at a Porsche dealer? Check these prices out: https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog..._pg1.htm#item0
Porsche charges $1386.50 for the starter. The dealer will likely add around 3 hours labor at whatever their shop rate is.
The EXACT SAME starter from Bosch (check the part # listed for proof) is $394.25. Any competent independent Porsche repair shop can do the install, probably at a lower labor rate.
The starter on my '07 GT3 failed a couple months ago. I removed it myself, took it to a local starter/alternator/generator repair shop that does quality Bosch work and had it rebuilt for $180.00. Reinstalled it and it works perfectly. And it is still the same starter that my GT3 was born with.
I've owned a bunch of Porsches in the past 46 years and learned a long time ago to avoid the often ridiculous "Porsche Tax" whenever possible.

You can get the new Bosch starter for under $300 online-in my case all I had to do was clean out the contacts and re tighten connections-I was going to replace it myself, but my starter was perfectly fine-and still is:

A trustworthy independent could easily replace it with a Bosch reman as others stated for under $700 typically. Pretty straight forward job, with or without axle disconnection from the transmission.

I found it to be surprisingly simple and it would be a piece of cake if the car is on a lift.
Here is the Cliff Notes version for those of us without a lift:
1.) Disconnect the negative battery terminal
2.) Jack the right side, place the raised portion on sturdy jackstands
3.) Remove the right rear wheel & tire. I didn't but will do if there is a "next time". If you have a lift, you can skip this step
4.) Remove the plastic undertray to expose the starter which is located just above the inner CV joint on the passenger side.
5.) Disconnect the wiring to the starter and remove the two bolts that attach the starter to the transaxle
6.) Remove the starter. Axle removal was not necessary on my car
7.) Reverse the above process to install the new or rebuilt starter

My hands were too big to thread the bolts back in with the axle in place so my wife finished the install for me. I purchased a Bosch, but also had the original rebuilt and is now on my shelf waiting to go in if the Bosch ever fails.
