Default Are 996/997 bolt in half cages interchangeable?

X post.....Is a bolt in rear half cage interchangeable between 996 and 997 GT cars without sunroofs and without subwoofers/speakers? Specifically ones that bolt to the rear shock towers? Looking for something that will mount to the rear shock towers and bolt to the seatbelt mounts behind the rear seats, preferably to weld in plates behind the rear seats. Best I can tell they are interchangeable between 996 and 997 cars but looking to find out with certainly.

Powdrhound, I have the RSS 901 bolt-in bar that came out of my sun-roof 04 GT3. I used this for about 2 years but is in quite good condition. Powdercoated black. Kept for my next car but bought car with bar already in-place. So, should sell. I am in Charlotte, NC and shipping would probably take pallet. Will also be at VIR and Road- Atlanta at times this spring. Let me know if interested. Tom

Echoing other's answers- Yes.

Lots of brands/models available, my personal preference is DAS Sport. Simple. Effective. Takes one hard corner to notice it makes the rear of the tub stiffer and more responsive to inputs.

^^^ Tom I didn't realize that your personal .1 doesn't have a sunroof? Did you do a sunroof delete? Sorry for off topic post.

My car does have sunroof. I posted the photos only to show general views of the roll bar. I do plan on doing a delete in the future.

Tom makes a really good point. Then again Tom's thread is my favorite on any board ever. Back on track. A roll bar, back half only, does stiffen up the 996/997 and it is definitely noticeable. I first put one in a GT2 in 2002 and it was very obvious that it tightened the chassis up and I'm not very good or very fast. I'd love to try a 996/997 with the front pieces as well but have yet to have that opportunity. JBO

It's unfortunate the clubsport front half is so close to the drivers head otherwise I would add it to mine. Ideal is something custom running along the a pillar. But seeing my car sees street time it's just not worth the risk to have a front section.

Thanks guys. I'm considering either the Das one Tom has here or the Cantrell one. If I'm not mistaken, the Cantrell one is not bolted together from pieces but welded as one piece which would be my preference. Tom, the Das bar bolts to the seatbelt bolt holes at the base? Is there any clearance issue in the rear between the adjuster ***** of the shock and the vertical roll bar mount? You have the adjusters removed above. Thanks!

Unsure of availability but Cargraphic/Heigo offers a front cage that mounts to the OE clubsport rear section. The side bars attach to the front pillars a tad higher up. I believe it's possible to get Heigo cages with DMSB and/or FIA certification as well.

Very good find! I like that solution. Simpler and less stuff to hit high up. Could you please post a link to this item. I want one. Thanks NGT.
