Question 997 GT3 Engine knock?

Hey guys,

I have a Cobb AP and planning to load on one of the 93 flashes soon but just wanted to check my engine knock readings before I did anything. With it plugged in I have it monitoring knock on cylinder 1, 4 and 6 and sometimes it's picking up values of up to -6 or even -9. The issue is though even just revving my car it will read knock at up to -3 so I'm pretty sure it's just picking up random noise and registering it as knock.

General cruising at like 2~3k rpm and slightly putting my foot on throttle in 5th gear and it can show -3 knock but when I'm actually driving my car I hear no apparent knock if possible and feel zero difference in engine pull strength, doesn't feel like the engine is pulling out any timing to combat said knock.

When I'm actually on hard throttle I really don't see any figures indicating knock, pretty much stays on 0 on hard throttle but then when I look at where I'm driving and look back at the peaks there will be some -6 and -9 readings. Once again, I feel nothing holding back my engine or any problems.

I have straight through exhaust with cup car headers, maybe this is adding to these false knock readings?

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Cheers

If the "knock" is only on free rev or throttle blip for down shifts, it's not a big big deal.

If under load the logs don't show knock, you should be fine. Keep in mind the Cobb OTS maps predominantly just add ignition advance and change the setpoint for the full throttle lambda.

Happy to take a look at your logs and provide any feedback

if it's data log setting I believe you're looking at, normal.

friend called me and asked me samethjng - I hooked up my duramettric pro, I wa getting same misfire at idle every so often in cylinder 1,3 or 6 or something like that.

Mae were both on phone looking at values / time frame. I have 0 misfires under load . / driving condition etc. new coil/ spark plus about 10k ago

Misfire? Sorry unsure if we're on the same page. I have no misfires and I'm running new coils and plugs, about 4000km old. I'm talking about engine knock.

This is probably an obvious question, but what Octane gasoline are you running?

Japanese fuel is pretty good, high octane pump gas here pretty much 98 ~ 100 so I believe that is 93 RON.
