I'd like to start tracking my new to me 997.2 GT3 but I can't pass tech inspection until I get the fittings fixed. So, I'd like to find a shop that somewhat close to me that can handle welding the coolant fittings. I'm in SE Michigan and would like to be make it a reasonable road trip if I decide to trailer it to a shop.
What shops are recommended in the mid-west or on the East coast?
I am also the proud new owner of a 10 GT3. I bought my car from Doug at Switchcars in Ohio, just outside of Cleveland and Doug was kind enough to arrange having the coolant pipes pined before the car being delivered at a shop called Steinels. I spoke to Andy who seemed very knowledgeable and very meticulous. Very reasonable priced as well.

Why don't you give it ago yourself. Welding can be done by Andys guy in Ohio who's done a few. It also gives you the opportunity to replace tons of while your in there stuff that will be aging out.

It's temping and I honestly have thought of dropping the engine myself, but my issue is I've got another car project I'm working.... a full suspension and brake re-fresh on my E30 M3.
Another recommendation for Steinel's Autowerks, Twinsburg, Ohio. They welded mine in 4/11 and no issues since then. They do all the heavy work on my 6/3. Very meticulous and thorough. Andy is up front and Eric owns the business.
If you considered dropping the engine yourself, you likely have the skills and would have no problem doing the engine-in pinning. I did mine, working very slowly in just a few hours. More than 2 years since I pinned them and no problems. All 6 fittings are fairly easy to access.
