Default Approximate Trade in Value for 2006 997 C4

I am considering a pre-owned 981 and would like to get a sense of what I can expect for trade in value and if I were to sell on my own. I have used pricing guides (e.g. KBB) but they do not seem to be accurate for assessing Porsche trade in values. I have looked at cars currently for sale and tried to triangulate with pricing guides to set expectations on what I may get.

Car is 2006 C4, manual, 57k miles, 4 owner, clean Carfax and mechanically. It has some wear and tear (e.g. front end stone chips, some wear on leather seats, PCM buttons) as would be expected with a 10 year old car. The notable options are full leather and xenon lights and had an MSRP of 88k.

Am I in the right ballpark with the following:
Trade In- 26.5k - 28.5k
Sell Private Party - 30k - 32k
Dealer Retail- 34k-36k

Dealers typically will get the auction prices for your car, and at most they will offer you the auction price for your car. If there's a CarMax near you, I'd take it there for an appraisal. In my area they typically offer more than new car dealers. The numbers you quote look in the ballpark, but dealers near me always offer below KBB. Good luck.

Enter your car's info into the following website;

https://www.autotrader.com/trade-in-...ESTA&zip=75126

This will give you the closest amount to what you will receive for trade in value.

Do Porsche dealers participate in this program? I know that Toyota dealers do, since my son sold his Toyota to a Toyota dealer. The dealership had this site on their website, and honored the quoted price on trade-in.

I tried that tool and got an what seems very low- 24.5k trade in. This seems to support the fact most on line assessment tools are inaccurate in assessing trade in value of Porsche

I promise you that dealers will be within +/- $500 of whatever that tool says your car is worth.

Keep in mind that value is subjective and that dealers will never give you what the car is actually worth. The tool is a good reference in figuring out what a typical dealer is willing to offer.

Now, suppose you're trading in your car for a lease on a Maserati... Chances are the dealer will offer you more for your trade because the deal is in their favor.

But, if you're trading in your car for a used less expensive car, the dealer will low-ball your trade because the business opportunity is not in their favor.

Anecdotal evidence for CarMax.

I got fair private party value for a VW GTI I sold there a couple years ago. It was a couple thousand more than I was expecting. Also it was a quick painless transaction

I've never seen a Porsche dealer match what CarMax offers, without a lot of negotiation.

Low to mid 20's for a dealer trade-in, they have to turn a hefty profit.

I'd put for sale at $35k firm and I think it would go quickly and you should hold to that price. If it doesn't sell within a week or two, consider other options.
