Default Price for Carrera S

Folks,

I am looking at car it is 2006 Carrera S 6MT with 70K miles with fender bender (as he claims).

Currently he is asking premium for it but if I can get him down to comfortable amount, I might pull the trigger.

How much would you pay for it?

With that amount of info I am comfortable saying somewhere between $30K and $50K.

You mean it's had a fender bender before, or it needs to be fixed?

Some people on this forum will disagree and passionately hate accident damage, but I wouldn't ding it too much if it was was properly repaired. If the car was the right spec for what I want, then so be it.

Not sure what info you need more. It had fender bender in history and it is Carrera S with basic options.

It had been a fender bender before (history). I am also like you and don't stress much about it but in sametime I am looking for fair market value.

If you want better estimate of the value please post the VIN. Does he have before and after photos of the fender bender? Did a Porsche approved body shop do the work? Ask lots more questions before you can get a realistic estimate of the value.

A good ding to the front bumper can be just what the doctor called for. You get a new oem bumper and no more road rash! Better than a respray. My Boxster got backed into. I have a great body shop. Got a new rear bumper. I was about to go in for a front respray around this time, kind of wish I had backed in so he would have hit the front of car! .

Get us the VIN and we'll get you the build sheet. I'm guessing if you get it for 33 to 38 don't think another day about it and enjoy it. Better to get it from a private party than from wholesaler like I did. Some cars with 70k miles can be in perfect shape some not, if you like it then dive in and have fun.

Mileage? Service history? Number of owners? Northeast salt car or Arizona sun? Overall condition? Those alone are a huge spread.

a 997 owner can easily tack on tens of thousands of factory options. Some of these option actually translate well when it comes time to sell.

If you post the VIN someone will post the original build sheet showing the options. But, I will caution, we have lurkers who can and will snap up the car out from under your nose. The best bet is to post up the known options, general location (North East, South West etc).

A premium price would have such things like service records, no paint work, no known mechanical issues, 1-2 previous owners, highly optioned........ Where the car is located also will affect asking IE If the car is in a large metropolitan area it will command a larger number compared to middle of nowhere USA.

Paintwork is not a big deal for me if the repairs were done correctly and documented. A fender bender might actually translate to a front clip replacement. Your gonna want to see the repair docs.

Without all the parameters, I came up with $36-41k.

There is a stunning Blue Tan full leather with sport chrono, Sport seats, 67k miles for $36,500 on Cargurus in Atlanta I think.

Yea, thats it. I didnt see the 7 previous owners part. On the plus side, It comes with 'a mountain of maintenance paperwork', enthusiast owned and some recent MX.

Does the 06' 997 have good engine or do they suffer from many possible failure modes?

06 carrera s are pretty reliable compared to 05.
I did a lot of research and the only 2 major issues that might pop up is either the upgraded IMS can go bad or cylinder bore scoring and both are extremely low % of happening.

But if I have the budget, I would go for 997.2 for sure.
