Default iPhone 7 Control Problems

I am having issues with an iPhone 7 in my 09 C2S. I used to have an iPhone 6 and connected it via the standard ipod adapter cable + a 30 pin to lightning adapter. Connected fine, showed track details and I had volume control from the head unit. Now when I connect my new iPhone 7 it plays ok but I have no ability to change the volume from the head unit and I get no track details. My volume is locked to whatever the volume was set at when I plugged the iPhone in. Worse, I can adjust the volume on the iPhone either. I have tried plugging and unplugging the iphone at various stages with no luck. Maybe 1 in 20 times I connect the iphone I can actually adjust volume, but I have no idea why it works. Anyone else experience this issue or have ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks...

I know this is a really stale thread, but did you ever solve this? I just ran into this exact thing with the bovee1000 bluetooth adapter plugged into the iPod port with my iPhoneX

I just upgraded to iOS 11.2.5 on my iPhone 7 last week and so far it’s working fine in both my 2012 Cayenne S (PCM 3.1) and my 2010 911 4S (PCM 3.0). In my 911, I connect wirelessly via a Bovee 1000 connected to the Y Cable plugged into the iPod interface (USB Port + round pin connector). Once (or maybe twice), I did have to delete and reconnect my iPhone, but that solved any connectivity problems I was having.

Are you having any problems with your BT telephone connectivity, or are your problems related only to music? You may want to try deleting your phone entirely and repairing from scratch, even though you’re connecting through your iPod cable for music.

I replaced my 30pin to fire adapter $39 from Apple and it fixed my connectivity issues. BTW.. all of my Apple devices have the latest software on them.
