Yeah I got the PSE already so I potentially would not need this added. Just for comparison, what would the same part cost in DE? I would be able to the get the VAT back when returning to CH (but only for the physical parts I believe, not labour) and pay the Swiss VAT of 8%.

What's with that big dip at 2200 rpm on the tuned curve? It's pretty drastic.

That dip is in a rather meaningless area on the power curve and should not be of concern, as it is most likely just a shift into gear for the actual dyno pull. The pull itself on this graph starts at 2200.

Glad I could help. If you do find yourself looking for that type of power at any point, I'm a PM, email, or phone call away!

They are selling the upgrade kit for CHF 11'406.65* (which would bring it from 385 to 408 bhp) plus labour.

Initially, I got a tad excited about the upgrade possibility, but then thought maybe it's not worth it. I mean my 997.2 C4S is really really quick as it is (PDK and Chrono Pack) so what would the additional HBP bring to the table? Top speed? I'm never going to even get close to V-max so not a selling point for me.

So,

1) What exactly would the additional 23 bhp give me?
2) If I went for it, should I have it done when getting the car serviced anyway to save on labour?
3) With the power kit upgrade I guess my C4S would then "become" a GTS 4 as I believe this is the main difference between the C4S and GTS?

Any takes on this/recommendations would be highly appreciated...

PS. * Not that it makes any difference but CHF 11'406.65 = USD 11'650 and everything is very expensive in Switzerland...

Bumping this to see if anyone has a current price and/or lead on where to purchase the X51 OEM 997.2 Power Kit?

I’m not interested in a aftermarket tune.

Thanks

100% this ^^^. If you extract the hype, C&C and internet chest pounding, and placebo effect, there isn't much left.

You figure at some point, Suncoast and the other places just want to get rid of them.
Does that mean the engine will be more reliable and more powerful for long runs (track)?

I've only seen the kit offered for the 991.1 2013-2016 3.8 engines -

https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU991X51.html

Might be easier to find a used 997.2 GTS.

This was my route. Well worth the spend (4 years ago anyways) to get the right GTS. Even at todays higher prices you're going to benefit by the prices holding steady or rising. I know they've risen about $10-15k since I purchased mine, if you consider the same model year and mileage.

If I was going to spend $10k+ on a "power kit", I'd definitely want to get more than 30 hp for it. Much better bang for the buck to do a supercharger from VF Engineering or Turbo Kit from TPC Racing instead... but I get it if you might be an OEM only person.

Former 997 C4S X51 owner here..

I don't think the Powerkit is worth adding to the car.

However, if you find a 997 with the X51 Powerkit installed from the factory, it's worth pursuing because the added cost of the kit has already been factored into depreciation.

LOL, exactly. Part of it is the manuf of exhaust, headers, intakes and tunes. Out of all those listed mods, the tune is the ONLY one that got a little, if any bump in HP. I get tired of the honda civic owners attitude that you just add exhaust and you magically get 30-40 HP. Yet, we have seen very little to NO independent DYNOs here on these cars and the 997 has been produced 15 years ago. I have never been to a specific car enthusiast forum and seen so little independent dynos out there. Frankly, I think there is a reason for it and a reason that the power kit is $10+K and "only" produces around 26 hp. Porsche has done a decent job of extracting the HP out of the motor already. Besides my E46 M3, this is the ONLY car i have ever had that I didn't do all the typical stuff (intake, exhaust, headers, plenum, tune, etc...). So it isn't like I don't believe in it, I just so happen to not think Porsche left a lot on the table. I'd LOVE to be wrong and have the ability to add 25 HP by slapping only an exhaust on there.
