Shifter Cables Replacement for 997.2 vs 997.1??
Hey folks,
Does anyone know if the replacement shifter cables showing Porsche Part #: 997-424-041-01-OEM (for 2005-2008) will work on a 2009+ 997.2?
One of my cables severed on the transmission side (luckily in my driveway) on my 2009 C2 and I'm looking to order replacement ones so I can be back on the road next weekend.
Suncoast shows having some that fit a 2009, but they use their own part numbers so it's not like I can see what actual part they are offering.
The ones they are selling are $269.00+ shipping.
Pelican Parts has some for only $186, but they say for 2005-2008.
I like and buy from both. I just don't want to pay almost $100 more for the same item.
Or does anyone know the actual part number for the 997.2?
Any help appreciated - thanks.

Although it doesn't answer your question, i would like to suggest Numeric cables as well. With stock you will end up in the same boat again. lucky for you you were in your driveway, i was in the middle of the road when it happen to me.

PET shows similar but different part numbers. 997.1 is 997-424-041-01. 997.2 is 997-424-041-10. Given the different part numbers I'd buy the proper one for my car. Call Suncoast though. They are pretty good at answering questions like this one.

+1 re numeric cables. i would skip the oem ones as there is a chance of it happening again; it's happened to almost all my 997 buddies in my area.
if you goto the cayman forums you will see that a some cars have the cables snap twice while still new enough to be in their original warranty period. there is an inherent design flaw imo of the 6-speed shifter cables in the 997/987.
when mine snapped LUCKILY its was a day after i got back from the 1200k mile hershey cruise round trip.

Hey everyone, thank you for all your replies.
I'm really surprised to be reading all of these posts about the cables snapping so easily and frequently.
I did end up ordering OEM cables from Driver's Choice (support local!), so I am a cheap fool for the short term. Now that I'm reading how some people are on their 3rd and 4th set of cables makes me wish I got off my wallet and got numeric...
One of the guys at Titan has Numeric shifter in his 996 GT3 - I loved the throws and direct feel. I assume he has the numeric cables as well, but not sure.

THe OEM cables are all plastic and nylon. It's easy to see where they snap. The Numeric cables will add a bit of stiffness to shifting, which I like. If you ever drove a manual tranny that used actual shift rods instead of cables, like the toploader 4 speed in my 66 Mustang, it get towards that kind of feel. Very mechanical.
