Default Steering wheel upgrade 2009 997.2 C4S?

I currently have the standard steering wheel as shown here:

And have been thinking of upgradimg to one like this:

Does anyone have the part number of the later so I can include this when I contact my local Porsche dealer for a quote?

Reason is that my German is not 100% and I want to be 100% sure I'm clear with my request. I guess it's quite simple job so should not take them very long to fix.

Kk2, is this the offical Porsche part number? I did look this up earlier and I would have expected it to be something like 997.xxx.xxx.xxx

Myw, yeah I was thinking of looking there too, but I need a very specific colour and again the official Part number...

Frank,

I did this exact same switch on my 2010 C4S Cab 3 years ago, going from the standard wheel to the Multi Function wheel. Suncoast sells the OEM MF faceplate upgrade, as all the wiring for the MF capabilities is already prewired in the steering column. You'll need to select the specifics of your steering wheel consistent with your car's options: Heated/non-Heated, MT/Automatic and color. As I recall, I paid about $575 from Suncoast and I had the Dealer to the installation and program it to work with the PCM, which they charged me 1 hour of labor to do for the install and programming ($165 as I recall).

I posted a thread on this at 6SpeedOnline at: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...e-997-2-a.html

That is not the official Porsche part number. Suncoast uses their own system to deter people from using them just for research.

Just heard back (after a 10 day wait for a reply as they needed to do some research) from Porsche Bern who in turn had been in contact with Porsche HQ in Stuttgart.

So, based on the VIN it is not possible to upgrade the steering wheel from the standard type to the multi-function version.

Not a big deal but thought I'd share here in case someone were thinking the same.
Again, my 997 is a very early generation 2 and I believe there may havebeen some small adjustments made in 2010, but please correct me if I'm wrong...

bs... many people have done it on this forum. just takes a recode with a Dura or PIWIS. possibly a new front control module but not if going from 997.2 wheel to 997.2 wheel.

that is a huge load of lazy dealer BS. at most a steering wheel module + a new MF plate + some programming is all that is needed.

Thanks for sharing but underlines what Porsche Berne told me...

Neither according to the links are possible on my 2009 C4S...

hmm, are you sure? panamera cayenne, cayman, 911 macan wheels are all interchangeable, other then the 991.2 generation of wheels (where only the malfunction may not work on the older cars).... literally everything else is interchangeable with a module swap and some programming.

Hi myw

The "errors" are what came back through the links you shared... If you try and enter the same as I did (2009, C4S, and either of the engine options) you get the samme "error" as I got...
