Was it heavily patrolled or relatively quiet?
Last time I went, it was impossible to do any speed due to the sheer amount of police cars? It was summer time of course.... not a good time to be there.

There were no cop cars hiding. I drove 25 miles up w/ no one in front of me then all the way back down the same way. The tunnels came alive as I would drive thru them.

I was there 2 weeks ago. Only police was on the tail of the dragon, same place in the late afternoons, No others from tellico plains to linville falls on any roads. But as the weather gets warmer and more tourists, the police will come out more and more.

Three Wheelin'
BRP is a great roadway..
however, the surrounding twisties are a lot more rewarding. there are some seriously tight technical twisties right nearby. one of which is physically below the BRP for a good distance. Like.. if you got to the edge of the roadway of BRP and looked down below. if you aren't far.. you can pretty much just look at a map and pick them out.
the only thing I miss about North Carolina is those roads!

Did most of the BRP and the first 60 miles of the Skyline last week (SB). Drove down to Asheville with the family.
Skyline at dawn was spectacular - the only thing I saw was deer and turkeys. I was in the VW. In a porker it would have been sublime.
