Hi, I bought a new to me 2005 Carrera C2 and wish to update the sound system so that I can use my phone, Stream music and hear Google maps directions on the speakers. I made some research on this site and it's usually a choice between Dension and Mobridge.
I have the Dension and has worked great. Mobridge is the alternative but don't have it so cant comment on it. Havent heard of anything new and don't expect to. The cars are +10 yrs old
tranzit blu HF. 100 bucks, best product for the money and the sound is very very good imo. google rennlist 997 and the 997 turbo forum here for the full install instructions and where to buy it as well (eBay)

Tranzit Blu HF does exactly what you want, no more no less, for a fraction of the cost of the Dension and Mobridge units. Plus the install is an easy DIY if you so desire. I've had one in my '05 for several years.
listen to BenZ... you owe it to yourself and check it out in someones 997 before spending more money... i may even do a video demo out of my own car.... after i get my new steering wheel installed (of course)

Thanks for all the replies. I've called a few places to get an idea on pricing. The iSimple sollution is tempting but I,ve read mixed reviews about the quality of sound. I've to find someone in Montréal that has the install in their car to get a feeling of the quality.
One nice thing about Denison and Mobridge is that everything can be controlled through the PCM, so you don't have to access or even see the phone. The PCM phonebook functions work too, which is great. For me, this was an important feature. I don't like seeing the phone and power cord on a clip or mount in the cabin; it makes things too cluttered for me.

I pondered that issue too. But the PCM isn't touch screen and doesn't even have a joystick, so operating it is a lot slower and more distraction than a phone. Even before I found out about the Tranzit I had decided I would go with an aftermarket head unit rather than the Dension/Mowbridge units.
Between Siri and the control button I only need the phone when inputting GPS.
If you have PCM 2.1 there are phone on/off buttons at the top left....email me for more info. We have numerous solutions for bluetooth streaming and calls directly to the optic loop.
it will sound like good quality fm radio when the reception is clear as it gets/with no interference.
its a direct hardwired - analog cable connection; and the module simply cuts off the incoming FM antenna signal when the module is being used so you don't ever have to worry about the native FM signal coming in (unlike the standard deserved perception of fm modulators).
imo it sounds very very good, in fact in all my cars (911 included) it sounds great. I'm not sure if the euro-fakra adapter allows for some interference but in my lexus' (where no euro antenna adapter is needed) the sound quality is that of the mp3 oem disc drive. i switch back and forth between the 2, and am pressing all the wrong buttons as i forget which system its playing out of (oem lexus system vs the phone... but the sound quality is to the point where i simply can't tell the diff... the 911s interiors are much more noisy then my other cars so i have no clue how some of you guys can tell the difference).
those complaining about the quality imo are either audiophiles/have dog ears/or in some cases have some sort of botched install where i am guessing the fakra adapter may be allowing some interference (my guess only).
now don't get me wrong, out of every 50 songs there may be one song that produces some distortion, and every 20 phone calls i may have a caller who is talking too close to their phone where i may hear some distortion. but given the price point and quality, i would say that the value/dolllar is so strong and the install itself is so simple that its worth giving it a try b4 going a more expensive option. i simply didnt want to have to pay 500$ some system that has to make way for the 12 year old most-hur system, for good quality music streaming and phone call usage via the car; and the trazit blu hf simple, brilliant and great quality audio for the money.

thats what i was going to say, i need just hold the trazit control button for 2 seconds, and i pretty much can access all the functions/apps the phone offers via voice control VS middling around with the 12 year old pcm (which Imo just takes ages and simply isnt safe to use when driving).

Another Tranzit Blu owner here. Installed it myself about 2 months into ownership of the 997 last summer. Overall pretty pleased - although the instructions did not match up to the unit I was shipped. IIRC, instructions referred to LED(s) visible on the case, etc. - and there were none-visible. Seems it also mentioned something about using the LED(s) to determine the status of the synchronization with the phone perhaps - anyway - that isn't possible once you install the unit in the dash behind the factory radio!
