Default Continental Tires

I purchased 4 new Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires for my 2011 9114S.
After I put about 9,000 miles on the tires they are so loud that I can hardly hear the radio at 60 MPH. The rear tires are worn out at 12,000 miles. I do not track the car or drive aggressively. Has anyone else had this experianced with these Continental tires?

I have the same Continental tires, but I've only had them for approx 3k miles and they still look like new and are very quiet. I believe it's normal for the tires to become noisy as they wear out.

My previous PS2's lasted 5k miles (rears), and they were so loud at that time that I couldn't talk on the phone at highway speeds.

Even though you have a 4S. Rear tire wear is still going to be an issue. It will depend kind of driving, temperature, and right foot pointing.
I'd be pretty happy with 12,ooo miles for rear. That proves lots of smiles.
You can see in my photo why my rear tires were getting loud. Excellent reason not to talk to Mrs Smoke on the phone.

As far as wear is considered 12,000 miles on these cars is about it. Of all the tire threads I've read here and the 993 board in fifteen years I rarely hear raves about the Continental product. I have your tire on my new MDX (like WTF?) and they suck. Noisy and no rain traction. Can't wait for them to wear out soon.

Michelin for me always. 993 and 997 both with MPSS.

I have a set of the old generation Extreme Contact "DW" which were on the C4S when I bought it last May. They were new, less than 1,000 miles on them, and now have about 7,000 miles on them. I have not noticed any increase in noise yet. I will say I was going to swap them out for Michelin SS but I like the tires. I don't think they have the stickies of the Michelins but they are pretty close and make about the same noise. If they get worse I'll let you know.

My 50,000 mile 08 4S came with these tires and after 4,000 miles road noise has seemingly increased. I didn't notice it happening, just had the sudden thought yesterday that road noise was worse that I had realized initially. Until reading this thread I didn't think to blame tire wear. Guess it's time for new rubber

I have a new set of the DW ExtremeContact because a set delivered was about $600. I'm getting ready to do a long road trip and will see how they ride.

I have a new set of Conti Extreme Contacts on all 4 corners. They replaced a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3S that came on the car. My observation so far is that they are WAY quieter than the MPS3S's that came off. I don't drive my 911 in the wet so no experience there. As far as grip and handling go, they seem to be pretty much glued to the road. We have long twisty Hill Country roads here and pushing them hard hasn't even come close to getting them to let go or even squeal. No track experience, nor will there be.
