Some of forum members may aware I am looking for a 993 targa. I came across this locally and wonder if this is a good buy. 997 for me is the modern version of 993 though they are more massively produced.
I would totally get a 997.1 T4s but not a red one, and not a red one with beige interior. And definitely not a red one with beige interior and and tiptronic.
NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
I love the Targa 4s. Big hips, nice hatch, easy to back up, lots of visibility. Moonlight in the cold and like having the top down (but not) in the rain. Lots of things are awesome about that model.
But that combo wouldn't make my cut.
However. That car or nothing? I'd take it all day long.
But. I don't see the price in the ad. So is it a good buy? That would be subjective. Mileage is ok. If it's in the low 40's it's a good price. If it's in the 50's I'd get picky.
Totally!!
Passed on an '08 Targa 4S two years ago and I still regret it. Black with black leather, PCCB, full leather, sport chrono....totally loaded. 68k miles and was sitting on the guys lot for too long and just wanted to move it. Would have taken $38k out the door for it.
I love my 997.1 and they don't come around often. If that is the mix of color, options, transmission, etc you want, I would say get your ppi and give it a shot. But not sure it will scratch the 993 itch.
I love the looks of the Targa. I love the shape. As long as I could swing it budget-wise and it checked out, I'd definitely go for a 6-spd if I found one. They seem to be pretty rare. There's a beautiful 993 Targa for sale here in Dallas that I know about, but it's way out of my price range.
I love Guards Red, beige interior, and living in the city I love my tiptronic. Looks like it has some nice extras, like the steering wheel controls and wood accents.
That T4S is loaded, but definitely not the interior I'd want. Full leather/sport chrono/sport exhaust... great, but no thanks to Makassar/tiptronic/sand beige/supple leather.
