Am I crazy?
Three rules of teenage car buying: 1) slow 2) ugly and 3) safe. Bought my kids a 2005 Volvo wagon and it came with dents already so I can't see the new ones. It's a tank.
Daughter says to me the other day:"hey, it's time to let me drive the 911, it's the only car we have thy I haven't dented."

I really enjoy this forum. Thanks again for the words of wisdom. Secondshot, your post made me laugh. My 14 year old asks when she can drive the 911. Someday, someday..... If I decide to part with the car, I will let you all know.
Yeah that sucks, kids are dumb. And in this case it turned out awful.
Correct. Keep the 911 and buy a 3rd appropriate car to pass on to your kid in a few years. Perhaps a boring sedan. It's similar thinking us cold climate state people have when we buy winter beater cars. But in your situation it could be a boring car that you would be OK driving from time to time.

Back in the day, I bought a 'cheap' used Range Rover to haul around the kids without selling my fun car. Simple fact is they get to an age when they actually say, 'Can you drop me off around the corner' (you are embarrassing). Why yes I can my little princess.....Ill just post on your Facebook that huge unflushed carnage you left for humanity and let the world know what type of gal they are dealing with.
Point being, you have the perfect car for you that is holding its value at worst. Get a cheepo for the next couple of years until they completely evolve into monsters.
Then get them Uber accounts on a prepaid credit card. If you really want to create havoc, make them share the spare car. Mwhahahahah
I literally lol'd @ the family commitment chirps "do whats right by your family" . haha. seriously?
Anyway, you are (hopefully) never going to drive spiritedly with your family in the pan so get a cheapie SUV for comfy family commuting.
Then when you are alone, you get to ride in your (already loved) 911 instead of some ugly *** hearse.

I am in, almost the reverse situation. I had a 2013 991 and traded it for a Panamera 4 in 2014 because I needed the extra space for our baby, occasionally. I, now, have 1 kid in college, a 4 year old, 9 year old (4'10"), and a 11 (4'11) year old. Test drove the new Panamera 4s and didn't feel like it moved me anymore than my current Panamera 4. Test drove a 17' 911 and loved it. I am on the fence between keeping my paid off Panamera or going into a new or slightly used 911. I have room for 3 cars, but the wife is not to flexible on number of cars. I am thinking the most I will need to transport is 2 kids at a time (otherwise use the wife's GLS550). In 2-3 years when they struggle to fit (one in passenger front and one backseat), then my 11 year old will be about a year away from a driver's permit....maybe the wife will be more bendy on multiple cars...
I feel your pain. You will miss the 911. I will say the Panamera is much easier to drive due to the space and slightly higher up seating.
