Time to exercise the CarMax warranty.......
So I noticed I had a coolant leak-seepage in my 2009 C4S on the pipe that connects the water pump to the thermostat housing, and my ignition switch is balky. Dropped it off today at Porsche of Tysons to get fixed......its pricey at 2300 but its mostly labor and getting that coolant pipe out means lots of other things have to come off first. My MaxCare should cover it but for the 500 dollar deductible. But as we know, until they get the check.....who knows. I'll keep updates posted. Some people have had issues with Carmax, some have not for warranty claims. I checked and paid 2100 dollars for the policy when I bough the car in October. So once they pay, its a wash. It won't be dome till next week. I got a free loaner Macan, its very nice but slow....and a bit mushy handling. Not my cup of tea. The side warning indicator is overly sensitive, and annoying. Carry on and go drive your 911.

Don't know. I did not drive to the Carmax store first. I'll find out. All they would do if I did is tell me to go to the dealer since they can't service Porsches at their place. But they may have to approve the costs. I;m getting it done regardless.

I have used the warranty, just drove it in gave them the policy information, they got the work approved same day and did the work the following day. I did get to see what they charged CarMax and it was around 25% off what they had quoted me.

Good to know. I called Tysons back and gave them my policy number and the other information. So far nobody called me back to say no. I do have a 500 dollar deducible.

I will tell you my experience with the Carmax warranty. When I took my car in to the Porsche dealer, they only allowed for charges up to $140 per hour. My Porsche dealer charges $175 per hour. I had to come up with the difference plus the deductible of $300. Something to watch out for.

I got my Vette at CarMax and bought their warranty. Actually it's MaxCare administered through a separate company. It was $2000 for 5 yrs exclusionary (like Fedility Platinum) whereas the company I usually go through would not offer 5 yrs on an 8 yr old car, and their 3 yr exclusionary was $4600. I was skeptical because of the cost, and read the contract thoroughly, and e-mailed the administrator with some questions I found vague in the contract. I have it in writing that I can take it anywhere, but the deductible is $50 at CarMax and $100 everywhere else. I also called several Chevy dealers and a couple indies and they all said they've had no problems dealing with that warranty.
Thus far I have not had any cause to use it though, I've only had the car a month.

Just got a call from Porsche of Tysons, looks like MaxCare is covering total bill and no questions. I just pay the 500 dollar deductible. So in one repair (well two really), the cost of the MaxCare warranty paid off.
