Default 2006 Vs 2007 Carrera S Seats?

Guys--I'm looking at 997.1 Carrera S's and have located a 2006 model where the leather seats don't look as "smooth" as some 2007 models I've found
(pics below). Why do the leather seats in the 2006 look rippled like that, even in the back seats?

Hmmm.....thanks. Well, how are those received in a 997? Do they generally help the car? Hurt it? They like look a little dated and old school to me.

They were a factory option. "Soft ruffled leather" I believe. Guess they're supposed to be softer and plusher...no experience as I've never had them.

I don't care for the look. Almost bought a beautiful Paint-to-sample Iris blue C4s, but ruffled leather killed the look for me.

Yeah that's a funky look. It doesn't seem to age very well either. It gets creased over time. Not a fan.

I prefer the standard look. If this is the only thing holding up the purchase of an otherwise perfect (or hard to find) car, changing out the seats would not be the end of the world (unless they are an unusual color).

Plush leather seats without full leather? Hard pass.

I don't like the look either but...
I have an '04 Cayenne Turbo that has similar seats. I've owned it since '09 and the seats show almost no wear with 145,000 miles. I think the ruffles both hide wear, and prevent the leather from being stretched over time.

It's not all bad...

It is personal opinion.
In Europe it is a loved (expensive) option and you see it a lot on dark interior colours. It is much softer to sit in and the seat heating effect is much better than with the "normal" leather.
Had it in my 964 turbo (965), believe the raft leather was standard in all turbo models, at least in Europe.

It was called "supple leather" on my '05's sticker. Wear-wise it's a non-issue. It's the bolsters that take a beating and wear prematurely, particularly on the outboard side of the driver's seat back. And those are the same as the standard seats.

The only drawback I've found is here in the tropics, on a really hot day even with the A/C on, my shirt back and pants seat are soaked by the time I get where I'm going. It doesn't happen in my Vette which has perforated leather in those areas. In the summer I drape a beach towel over the seat.

I have a strict Pilates regiment to avoid that wrinkled leather LQQK.
