Default Rubber marks off paint and windshield

I had a track weekend at Sebring and now have several rubber marks... How do you get them off? I tried washing with soap and quick detailer with no luck...

BTW Sebring is so challenging, but once you get it, amazing....

Scratch out can buy it at auto zone Walmart etc. I used it after every track day on slag btw it's called slag, that rubber on your car . Make sure the car is clean. After use apply wax to the area. I hope this helps.

Or you can just spend more money and get the same thing called mothers r3 racing rubber remover.

Hope this helps.

Bug & Tar remover. It helps if you do it as soon as you can and don't let it sit too long. Claying will also work but requires more work.

Tarminator - available at any auto parts store.

Some folks I know use brake cleaner but I wouldn't put that on my paint or clear mask.

Have also used Bug & Tar Remover, and other products, but I like Tarminator best.

WD40 or Goof-off. Both are fine for removing road debris without having to get into the car and buy more stuff. Also easy on the paint, just wash off when finished.

honestly just use Scratch out... some these other posts are crazy..

comes right off with scratch out and doesn't effect paint or clear coat at all.

By far, mothers R3 is the best. I use it on the cars I detail after track events. Its specifically made for removing rubber off the car. Spray it on, rubber wipes off with no effort.

Why?
"Badge of honour", to those who know what they are.
Clay bar takes them all off, if you need to.

Mothers R3 (I keep 1 bottle in my trailer and another in the garage) or WD40 in a pinch.

You can follow this advice, or pay more (in some cases a lot more) for products that do the same thing. The active ingredient in all these products is Distillates of Petroleum Hydrotreated Light (basically a category that includes Kerosene, Mineral Spirits, Paint Thinners, etc.). It can, and is, used as a tar and grease solvent (and I'd be able to tell you, chemically, how without having to spend 20 minutes looking it up if I paid more attention in O-Chem). The more time and effort it takes for removal is indicative of the concentration (but all the products are protected by trade secret blending so it is impossible to know exactly). You could also use one of the Citrus products which contain no hydrocarbons, but their primary ingredients are alcohols (of the chemical moeity sense) and that raises a host of paint and finish concerns.

I've been in the glass biz a bit (just bout 30) and we've always used 0000 steel wool, and paint thinner. Alcohol "may/can" hurt other things.

I have the same relationship with my two garage toys, i prefer to call the relationship "athletic", run hard and look good...
