Just put in my "super gundo"... basically Fister bypass and pse port used.

I have been thinking about doing this! I had a local shop put in the Gundo bypass and I'm not at all impressed with it. I think it's still too quiet and tame. I was thinking about opening up the PSE port and bypassing both sides but I haven't tried it yet! I think yours sounds like what I'm going for.

I spoke with Mike, and he explained it a little more clearly. It's really that he's assuming it's an east coast car, and that it's probably 8 or 10 years old, so the likelihood of everything being rusted (bolts and fasteners) is really high, and that's where the time goes.

He explained that if you take the cans off yourself, or if it's really easy to remove the cans (ie: GarageQueen Bolts) then it would be significantly less. The issue is it takes more time to remove the mufflers than it does to clean them up and weld them back together.

That makes sense to me. So I asked - assuming they either come off real easy, or I just take them off myself and bring them to you, what does that look like cost wise?

That's BS. Any shop that knows a Carrera can remove the mufflers in under an hour, even if they are heavily rusted. The time consuming part is creating and welding the bypass on the muffler.

Someone invented PB Blaster and Aerokroil for a reason.

Any time you can bring parts to a shop and avoid having to get them to remove and reinstall the parts from the car, you will save a ton of money.

After watching the guy weld up my Gundo, I can see that it would have taken him considerably more time to remove and reinstall the mufflers than it took him to cut the holes, cut the pipe and weld it up. A welder gets paid to weld. He's going to charge more for removing and reinstalling the cans because that's work that any monkey can do and he'd rather be welding.

I mean, you can't take them to the opera - but sounds like some kind of monster.

If you want to snap necks at will, muffler bypass all the way

I recommend the Darin Fister....easy to install especially if you remove the rear bumper which only takes 15 minutes.

Just did Fisters recently. I agree they are great. Just over $500 with shipping to Texas.
