57-7000 works on a 3.8. I had it installed for the past 8 months until it broke my MAF so I switched back to stock. I personally did notice a performance enhancement but I value reliability over performance.

Mike, just out of curiosity did you ever clean & then oil the filter?

Based on the discussion above, I was thinking about the K&N filter for the stock airbox, but decided to stick with stock after reading through this thread

I cleaned many. wash them with water and simple green/409, etc and let them dry a day. then spray with pam or whatever oil, or dont spray at all

Nope, the filter was brand new and didn't appear to have any extra oil on it. I think the problem is the position of the MAF is very close to the air filter which means it gets extremely turbulent air as well as oil if there is any residual on the filter.

If you look at any other brand of aftermarket intake you'll notice the MAF is placed much closer to the throttle body and away from the filter(s).

I gotta say I liked it a lot when it was working and new MAF's are only about $100 from ECS Tuning. Maybe I'll put it on again and keep a spare MAF in the glove box, not sure.

Mike I had read the same thing about the turbulent air & 1 owner had just clamped in a flow straightener - for want of a better word - and had no problems what so ever.
Did you put the original MAF back in once switching back to the original air box just to eliminate any doubt that failure was down to fouling?

I'm not sure what a flow straightener is and how it would work with this intake. Do you have a link or anything?
