Default Aftermarket warranty and diy

Do aftermarket warranty make you show proof that you followed the recommended maintaince schedule? How does this work if you do the maintaince yourself?

To answer your first question, yes (depending on what claim is being made). When I performed all of the maintenance on my previous vehicles, I kept a journal annotating date, mileage, and exactly what was performed. I also kept receipts of all materials purchased to perform said service. That was always sufficient enough for me. Unless the contract explicitly states "service must be performed by an ASE certified (or otherwise certified) technician," then legally, they cannot prevent you from preforming your own service. You just have to prove you did.

I also keep all receipts and notations on work done in two places, on my phone in a file notating what was done, date and mileage and also on CarFax through the CarFax app.
